Arlington Heights police arrested two about 5:45 PM Saturday, June 23, 2012 for retail theft at Kohl’s, 800 West Dundee Rd. Police transported an adult female and a juvenile in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department headquarters.

Battery Victim and Arrest on East Northwest Highway Near Stonegate, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:17 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 to a report of a battery at a first floor apartment in the 1200 block of East Northwest Highway. Police received a report that a second floor neighbor came downstairs and beat up the callers boyfriend. Police transported one subject in custody to Arlington Heights Department Headquarters. Arlington Heights police are investigating.

Criminal Damage: Solicitor Kicks Over Pot and Plant on South Highland Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 12:44 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 of criminal damage to property in the 1300 block South Highland Avenue. Police received a report that a solicitor kicked over a pot and plant. Police also received a report of an aggressive red-headed female solicitor in the 1100 block of west Greenbriar Court on the north side of town near Frontier Park. Police also received a report that the solicitor ignored a posted NO SOLICITING sign. Solicitors are reported to be selling childrens’ books and religious materials.

Residential Garage Burglary on South Derbyshire Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 11:19 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 of a residential burglary in the 100 block of South Derbyshire Avenue. Police received a report that an offender or offenders burglarized a garage and took some tools out of the garage.

‘Out of Control’ Woman at Motel 6 on Algonquin Rd, Arlington Heights Transported to Northwest Community

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:16 a.m. Saturday to the Motel 6 to a report of a woman out of control and running up and down the hallway at Motel 6. Police received a report that a female/Hispanic wearing ripped jeans, punched a man in the face while she was running up and down the hall. An ambulance was requested in a second floor room. One woman was transported to Northwest Community Hospital.

DUI Arrest on North Ridge Avenue, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police arrested a DUI driver about 2:50 a.m. Saturday on Ridge Avenue, about one block north of Euclid Avenue. Police transported an adult/male in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. The driver’s black Honda Civic was towed to a police holding area. The DUI was at least the third DUI arrest by Arlington Heights police overnight.

Arlington Heights police arrested a DUI driver about 1:58 a.m. at Euclid Avenue and Derbyshire. Police transported an adult/male in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. The driver’s vehicle towed to a police holding area.

DUI Driver Arrested at Roadside Safety Check at Dundee Rd and Wilke Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police arrested a DUI driver at a scheduled roadside safety check at Dundee Road and Wilke Road at about 1:25 a.m. Saturday. Police transported a DUI driver in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department headquarters. Police towed the driver red 2002 Toyota sedan to a police holding area.

Stolen Girl’s Blue Raleigh Bike Spotted at Arlington Heights Memorial Library, Offender Gets Away

Arlington Heights police responded about 6:20 p.m. Friday to a report that a blue Raleigh girl’s bike, stolen earlier in the day near St Viator, was spotted locked near the library. The bike was also described as having smiley face valve caps and a light on the front. Police received a report that the bike was discovered by the owners, and then two offenders unlocked the bike and sped off at high speed — one on the stolen bike and one on another bike — toward North School Park. One offender was described as a male/Hispanic, 14- or 15-years-old, 5’8″ 110 LBS, wearing a brown T-shirt and shorts. A second subject had a ‘similar description.’ Police searched the area, but no word on any contact with the offender.

Vehicle Burglary ‘Just Occurred’ at Guitar Center Parking Lot, South Arlington Heights Rd

Arlington Heights police received a report about 4:57 p.m. Friday of a burglary to vehicle in the parking lot of Guitar Center, 2375 South Arlington Heights Road. Police received a report that a blue Ford Explorer was burglarized between 4:40 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Police searched the area for possibly offenders still in the area.

Strong Arm Robbery Attempt By Man with ‘Rest in Peace’ Tattoo on East Algonquin Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 1:40 p.m. Friday to a report of a strong arm robbery attempt at 800 East Falcon Drive at the Forest View Fitness Center. Police received a report that a man asked a teen victim if he wanted drugs, then asked the victim if he could use his phone and attempted to steal money from the victim. After investigation, police determined that the crime actually occurred in the 1100 block of East Algonquin Road. The offender was described as a male/black, 18-years-old with short dreadlocks, wearing a white tank top and pajama bottoms, red-white-and-black shoes. The offender also has a “Rest in Peace” tattoo (unknown location on body). The offender was last seen walking eastbound on Algonquin Road. Police changed the incident category from Strong Arm Robbery Attempt to Suspicious Incident.

Roadside Safety Checks Tonight, Next Friday; Ongoing Roving Saturation Patrols

The Arlington Heights Police Department is conducting traffic enforcement efforts through a Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Grant awarded to the Village by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Division of Traffic Safety. The purpose of the grant is to reduce personal injury and fatal traffic accidents through increased traffic enforcement efforts. The grant supplements current law enforcement activities relating to traffic safety over a one-year period for various different enforcement campaigns designated by IDOT. The campaigns coincide with selected holiday periods in which there is a documented increase of traffic-related crashes and injuries. The campaigns rotate the themes of “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.” The Department will commence traffic enforcement activities relating to IDOT’s Independence Day (4th of July) campaign on Friday, June 22, 2012 and will continue doing so through Wednesday, July 4, 2012. Criminal Damage to Multiple Vehicles on West Willow St, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report of criminal damage to vehicles on multiple occasions in the 100 block of West Willow Street. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders have egged a silver 1985 Pontiac Grand Prix, a blue 2006 Toyota Corolla and a red Jeep Grand Cherokee on several occasions. The residence has also been egged in past incidents. Damage is estimated at over $500. The vehicles in a residential neighborhood were parked on the driveway and street. The most recent crime occurred at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Several other incidents have also occurred over the last year. Roommate Beaten Up in Apartment on South McKinley Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 8:36 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a battery in the 900 block of South McKinley Avenue. Police received a report that a 13-year-old was beaten up by his roommate, age 18, because the victim’s mother “kicked the roommate out of the house.” The offender was described as a male/Hispanic, 5’9″ thin build, wearing a white tank top and blue jeans. Police searched the area, but did not find the offender. Police are investigating — no word on whether the suspect was found during investigation. The victim refused an offer to have paramedics sent to the scene.

Arlington Heights police received a report of a theft in the 1500 block of North Yale Avenue. Police received a report that a table, two chairs and a flag were stolen from the yard.

Prostitution Arrest Red Roof Inn on Algonquin Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police investigators reported a prostitution arrest at the Red Roof Inn, 22 West Algonquin Road about 2:51 p.m. Thursday. Police transported one female in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. A second subject was transported to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters.

Attempted Burglary Investigated on North Douglas Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 2:29 p.m. Thursday of an attempted burglary in the 1600 block of North Douglas Avenue. Police received a report that a screen door was damaged. Police determined that a large amount of the screen was damaged and that a possible burglary attempt occurred. An evidence technician was called to the scene.

Union Protesters at Arlington Heights Rd and Thomas St: 1 Carving on Utility Pole

Arlington Heights police received a report about 8:21 a.m. Thursday that worker on strike are demonstrating at the corner of Arlington Heights Road and Thomas Street. One of them appeared to have been carving something on a wood utility pole.

More Pot Found? Marijuana Described in Multiple Baggies Found on North Kennicott Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 9:59 a.m. Thursday of found property in the 2400 block of North Kennicott Avenue. Police received a report that several baggies filled with a substance believed to be marijuana were discovered in front of a building. Yesterday, a pipe believed by a caller to contain marijuana was discovered in the 2100 block of South Goebbert Road.

Bike Theft at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 10:34 a.m. Thursday of a bike theft at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 434 West Park Street. Police received a report that the bike was stolen sometime yesterday.

Man Kicks, Shatters Glass at Bus Shelter at Golf Rd and Goebbert Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 9:26 a.m. Tuesday to a report of criminal damage to property that just occurred at Goebbert Road and Golf Road. Police received a report that a man kicked the glass of a bus stop and shattered the glass. The offender was reported to be male/black in his 20′s, wearing a dark blue shirt and black pants. He was last seen walking into an apartment complex area near Algonquin Road and Goebbert Road. He was also reported to be walking northbound on Goebbert Road — walking toward Wingate Court. Police were out with the suspect on Wingate Road by 9:31 a.m. The subject was in custody at 9:35 a.m.

Arlington Heights police received a report about 8:45 a.m. Monday of graffiti at the Citibank, 25 East Campbell Street. Police received a report that graffiti occurred over the weekend. Graffiti was also discovered in the parking garage at 22 South Vail Avenue.

Late Night Locker Theft at XSport Fitness on Dundee Road, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 12:22 a.m. Wednesday of two theft victims at Xsport Fitness, 960 West Dundee Road. Police received a report that a cell phone and money were stolen from a locker. Two male victims were showering while they left their lockers unlocked. The crime is reported to have occurred about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday or a little later.

Arlington Heights Northwest Cook County Public Workshop Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP)Workshop Tuesday, June 19, 2012

On June 19, 2012, a public workshop is scheduled to inform the public and to seek community input concerning the future of residential needs and opportunities in the Village of Arlington Heights. Through a technical assistance grant from the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), the Village of Arlington Heights, along with the four adjacent northwest suburbs of Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect, Palatine, and Rolling Meadows is the subject of a CMAP “Homes for a Changing Region” study. The CMAP study will assess future supply and demand trends for housing in our community and subregion. It will also develop long term housing policy plans to create a balanced mix of housing and to enhance livability.
