Dui Arrest Near Rand Road And Route 53, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police arrested a DUI driver 12:21 AM Thursday near Rand Road and Route 53 Arlington Heights, IL. Illinois State Police broadcast a DUI alert for northbound Route 53 from Algonquin Rd about 12:15 a.m. Thursday. Officers got behind the vehicle at Palatine Road. The vehicle was swerving across the lane lines and eventually swerved onto the exit ramp for Rand Road. The vehicle stopped at a light, then made an illegal turn and failed to signal a lane change. A traffic stop was made on a frontage road near Rand Road and Route 53. There was a strong odor of alcoholic beverages from the female driver's mouth. When told she was under arrest, she attempted to walk away and then pulled her arms out of the officer's grasp.

Mwenya Clermont, a 34-year-old female of the 2700 block of W. Bayside Drive in Palatine, was charged with DUI, Resisting a Peace Officer, Improper Lane Usage, and Making an Improper Turn.

Police transported the Clermont in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. The driver's white 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee was towed to a police holding area.

The female driver also refused to comply with a police officer's orders while in lockup.

Court date is Monday June 17, 2013.
