One Week From Today: 2013 Palatine Firefighter Blood Donor Challenge

The Palatine Fire Department, Palatine Board of Health and Palatine Medical Reserve Corps are hosting a Firefighter Blood Donor Challenge on Thursday, June 6, 2013, from 1:00 – 7:00 PM at the Palatine Fire Station No. 84 located at 220 W. Illinois Avenue.

The blood drive is dedicated to Gary Hicks, an Evanston Firefighter / Paramedic (IAFF Local 742). Gary was recently diagnosed with cancer for the second time. He has had his first surgery and is now going through some very aggressive chemotherapy. Gary is married and has three young children; 8 year old twin boys and a 10 year old son. Please help us honor Gary and donate blood.

All participating donors will receive a commemorative carry-all bag in addition to a free lunch. The blood drive will be conducted by LifeSource, Chicagoland's Blood Center.
The need for blood is constant and ongoing. Every time you donate blood you can save the lives of three people as well. In addition, this is a great opportunity to have your own cholesterol level checked.

For more information or to schedule an appointment contact LifeSource at 877-543- 3768 or visit www.lifesource.com. You can also go to any LifeSource Donor Center and use the Palatine FD Code "363C." Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are always welcome.
