Mosquitoes With West Nile Virus Discovered In Buffalo Grove In Lake County And Cook County

Mosquitoes collected from the north and south side of Buffalo Grove tested positive for West Nile virus, according to Buffalo Grove officials.

The presence of West Nile virus in mosquitoes was confirmed in Lake County and Cook County on August 13, 2013.

Illinois Department of public health officials confirmed the first human case of West Nile virus in Illinois for 2013 after the McHenry County Health department reported a woman in her 50s was discovered sick with the virus earlier this August.

The risk of infection with the West Nile virus could increase with the upcoming warming trend forecast for the next several days.
