Building Structural Concern At Tri-State Electronics On Northwest Highway, Downtown Mount Prospect

Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:40 PM Tuesday to a possible structural problem with a building at Tri-State Electronics, 200 West Northwest Highway Mount Prospect, IL. The exact nature of the structural problem is not available, police and firefighters put up red stickers keeping people away from the building. As of 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, the Mount Prospect Fire Department has temporarily closed the westbound lanes of Northwest Highway between Pine and Russell. However, one lane going in each direction is temporarily set up in the regular eastbound lanes to allow traffic to continue moving eastbound and westbound.

There is structural concern at Tri-State Electronics, 200 W. Northwest Highway. Offiicials want to take necessary precautions and prohibit foot traffic and limit vehicle traffic due to the uncertainity of the building structure at this point. Structural engineers are on site; and police officers are assisting traffic.

There are no volatile hazardous materials on site. The business sells cables, electronics, instruments, and other related items locally and online for Internet and cable television systems for businesses and consumers.
