Felony Retail Theft At Mariano's On Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 11:37 AM Thursday to a report of a retail theft suspect on location at Mriano's, 802 East Northwest Highway Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an offender took multiple bottles of alcohol after "hiding" the items in a bulk paper towel product area.

Vincent a. Colletti, age 79, of the 1700 block of 35th Street in Oak Brook, was arrested after he allegedly took at least nine items without paying for the items.

He allegedly placed the following items in Mariano's plastic bags:

3 boxes of dark Don Julio 39.99 each
3 white Don Julio tequila 41.99 each
2 boxes Patron tequila 43.99
Paper towels 19.99

He is reported to have placed the items in a bulk product area for paper towels, and to have left the store with items. He was then arrested.

After he was detained, police searched his vehicle, and found more alcohol -- about 25 bottles of alcohol -- in the trunk.

The Cook County Assistant State's Attorney approved a felony retail theft charge.
