Chicagoland weather radar shows a band of fast moving snow and mixed precipitation approaching Cedar Rapids and the Mississippi River -- moving southwest to northeast.
Satellite images show that mostly cloudy conditions have moved in to the Midwest. Some clearing is expected after 6:00 p.m.
Snow is expected to fall in the northwest suburbs from about noon until 5:00 p.m. with an accumulation of 0.8 inch.
About one-half inch of snow is possible Friday and another 6-7 inches of snow on Saturday.
Gusty winds up to 30-34 MPH from the SSW are forecast for most of today. Winds are forecast to diminish after 7:00 p.m.
The air temperature could rise to 33 degrees about 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. today.
