Arlington Heights Fire Department Deputy Chief Ken Koeppen Appointed Acting Fire Chief

Arlington Heights Deputy Fire Chief Ken Koeppen has been named Acting Fire Chief effective Friday, February 14 by Village Manager Bill Dixon. Ken Koeppen will serve as Acting Fire Chief until a new Fire Chief is appointed following the retirement of Chief Glenn Ericksen, who served as Chief since 2004 and has been with the Village for nearly 40 years. Upon leaving the Village, Chief Ericksen will take on the role of Section Chief of Administration with MABAS- Illinois (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System.)

Acting Chief Koeppen joined the Village's Fire Department in 1980, was promoted to Fire Lieutenant in 1995, and promoted to Fire Commander in 1998. In 2005, Ken Koeppen was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief.

The Arlington Heights Fire Department of 110 employees provides residents and businesses with fire protection service, emergency medical services (EMS) and other rescue functions. The Department consists of four Divisions, Administrative, Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical and Training.
