Arlington Heights Weather Forecast/Update: Cooler, Temps Dropping From 59 Degrees; Heavy Rain Overnight; High 41 Monday

Chicagoland weather radar shows a large area of precipitation that is diminishing as it approaches Chicagoland from the southwest.

Rain forecast for today has not arrived or developed in Chicagoland, but is still expected to arrive as heavy rain tonight.

Temperatures have also come in lower than forecast. The early morning forecast called for a high of 71 degrees with temps dropping after 1:00 p.m., but a cold frontal boundary settled over northern and northeastern Illinois and brought cooler air earlier than expected. The high only reached 68 degrees at about 10:51 a.m. and dropped to 61 degrees by 11:51 a.m. and 51 by 12:51 p.m. Temperatures in the mid-40s have been recorded with fog near the Lake Michigan shore. Temperatures in Arlington Heights are forecasts to hit the upper 40s about midnight.

Areas of fog before 8pm. Low around 37. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Monday Rain showers before 2pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. High near 41 at about 4:00 p.m. Breezy, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph all day Monday. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected, but some snowflakes might be in the air.

Monday Night A chance of rain and snow showers before 8pm, then a chance of snow showers between 8pm and 2am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 25. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Gusts are forecast to die down after 1:00 a.m. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
