Cannabis Arrests After Suspicious Persons Call At Motel 6, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded on Saturday to a report of suspicious males congregating outside near the Motel 6, 441 West Algonquin Road Arlington Heights, IL. The suspicious persons call resulted in three Cannabis possession arrests.

Police arrested Marcos Arias, age 20, of the 600 block of Carroll Square, Elk Grove Village, and Felix Cruz-Reyes, age 19, of the 500 block of Touhy, Des Plaines.

Police officers who arrived on the scene detected the odor of Cannabis in the air. A consensual search of Arias discovered a small amount of Cannabis in his front pocket. Cruz had Cannabis folded up in a magazine he was holding.

Both subjects were charged on local ordinance, and released on personal recognizance.

Their court dates are June 2, 2014.

Additional police officers that arrived on the scene also saw Bryan Abarca, age 20, of the 7500 block North Elmhurst Road Des Plaines, walking away from the area. Abarca admitted to having "weed" in his pants pocket. He resisted police as they attempted to search him.

His search was eventually completed and he was found with an excess of 2.5 grams of Cannabis.

He was released after posting $150 cash bond. His court date is May 15, 2014.
