Burglary At Walgreens Pharmacy On West Campbell St Near Wilke Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 3:37 AM Tuesday of a pharmacy burglary at Walgreens, 1711 West Campbell St Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders gained entry to the business using force. The offender(s) removed an unknown amount of prescription medication of unknown value. Police did not release the name of the prescription medication.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Tuesday May 6, 2014 between 3:27 a.m. and 3:36 a.m. Police did not release whether or not they responded to an activated burglar alarm, but with the narrow time range of crime occurrence, it is likely that police responded to an activated burglar alarm.

Even with secret military grade encrypted radios, which police claim prevent criminals from monitoring police communications and give officers a better chance at capturing criminals, police were not able to respond in time to capture the unknown offender or offenders. At 3:30 a.m. with quick police response likely with almost zero traffic consisting of only newspaper delivery vehicles and commercial garbage trucks, the offender was able to slip away.

Police were on an intense search during the early morning hours, but no early rising neighbors in the area of the strip mall would have any chance of being aware of a criminal hiding in their backyards or fleeing through their neighborhood.
