Flash Flood Watch Effective Late Tonight Through Wednesday Afternoon

Chicagoland weather radar shows storms well south of Chicagoland near Decatur and moving west to east at about 2:30 p.m. No storms are located in northern Iowa or southwestern Wisconsin as of 2:30 p.m.

Rain could trickle in as early as 7:00 p.m., but heavy rain isn't expected until about 1:00 a.m., and could last through the night and all day on Wednesday until about 6:00 p.m.

Current expectations are about 1.5 inch of rain from about midnight to 6:00 p.m. tomorrow in the northwest suburbs.

* FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

* DEEPENING LOW PRESSURE OVER THE CENTRAL PLAINS COMBINED WITH
HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE EAST COAST IS LEADING TO AN INCREASE IN
LOW LEVEL MOISTURE ACROSS THE MIDWEST. ALSO...THE REMNANTS OF A
WEST PACIFIC TROPICAL SYSTEM IS BRINGING AN INCREASE IN DEEP
LAYER MOISTURE. AS THE LOW TRACKS TO THE NORTHEAST THROUGH THE
MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY TONIGHT IT WILL DRAG A STRONG COLD
FRONT ACROSS THE PLAINS. COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF DEEP LAYER MOISTURE
WILL POOL ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE FRONT. AROUND 2 INCHES OF AREAL
AVERAGE RAINFALL IS EXPECTED AS THE SYSTEM CROSSES THE REGION.
WITH INDIVIDUAL STORMS TRACKING TO THE NORTHEAST AS THE LARGER
SCALE SYSTEM PROGRESSES TO THE EAST...THERE SHOULD BE SOME
TRAINING AND REDEVELOPMENT WHICH COULD LEAD TO LOCALLY HIGHER
AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES IN SOME AREAS.

* FLASH FLOODING MAY CAUSE ROADS TO BE CLOSED AND IMPASSIBLE AND
CAUSE RISES ON AREA RIVERS.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
