Video: Slumped Over The Wheel; Dui Arrest On Eastbound Arlington Heights Rd At Algonquin Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:21 AM Friday to a report of a driver slumped over the wheel at Algonquin Road and Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a driver appeared to be asleep at the wheel in a left turn lane from eastbound Algonquin Road to northbound Arlington Heights Road.

Firefighter/paramedics and police arrived at the same time and made contact with the driver, who immediately woke up when rescuers opened his car door.

After determining there was no medical emergency, firefighter/paramedics left the scene and police went to work to determine if the driver appeared to be intoxicated. An empty green "grenade" bottle of Mickey's Malt Liquor was found in the driver's Chevy Cavalier. A field sobriety test was performed and the driver was then arrested suspected of DUI.

The male driver was transported to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. The driver's silver Chevy Cavalier was towed to a police holding area.
