Fire Outside Extends Into Townhouse On Winding Oak Ln Near Hidden Lake Dr, Buffalo Grove

Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:02 AM Wednesday to a report of a fire in the backyard at 210 Winding Oak Lane Buffalo Grove, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a fire was in the backyard. There was an apparent language barrier, but the fire was believed to be already extinguished.

The resident reported that they believed the fire was out, but now the carpeting inside is feeling hot.

About 12:17 a.m. the Engine 26 crew requested Battalion Chief 4 respond to the scene. At about 12:25 a.m. Quint 27 was assigned to the call, and at 12:27 a.m. and ambulance crew was assigned to the call. The Battalion Chief declared they do have a working fire, but held off on the Code 3 response until about 12:30 a.m. which also brought Tower Ladder 25 to the scene.

The Battalion Chief reported water on the fire by 12:35 a.m. and upgraded the call to a working fire response, Code 4, by 12:36 a.m. which brought an Arlington Heights fire engine, a Long Grove squad, a second Buffalo Grove ambulance, an Arlington Heights ambulance, a Palatine fire engine, and a squad and chief from Lincolnshire.

Firefighters had to cut through the first floor with a power saw to access and extinguish the fire.

Palatine Rural FPD sent an engine and Rolling Meadows sent and ambulance to stand by in a Buffalo Grove fire station. A Mundelein engine and a Wauconda ambulance crew also stood by at a Buffalo Grove fire station.

The Buffalo Grove Battalion Chief declared the fire out at 1:24 a.m.
