Westbound I-90 Crash Just East Of Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights

Illinois State police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:49 AM Saturday to a report of a crash near the Daily Herald building 42.038513,-87.979032 (I-90 and Arlington Heights Arlington Heights, IL). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that people were injured in a crash involving a van in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 in front of the Daily Herald building.

At about 6:04 a.m. the Arlington Heights Battalion Chief arrived on the scene and reported that the crash was east of Arlington Heights Road in the westbound lanes, and that the crash incident is Elk Grove Township's call. Arlington Heights equipment was held up, as it would take longer to respond all the way to the turn around at the former Des Plaines Oasis location and respond back westbound to the crash scene (a seven-mile round trip). Elk Grove Township was then dispatched at about 6:05 a.m.

Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics were dispatched again at 6:25 a.m. as the third ambulance after Elk Grove Township firefighter/paramedics requested two additional ambulances to the crash scene. A Des Plaines ambulance was also dispatched to the scene.
