Arlington Heights Police Officer Douglas Glanz Named L.w. Calderwood Officerof The Year

Arlington Heights Police Officer Douglas Glanz is named the L.W. Calderwood Officer of the Year by the Arlington Heights Police Department. The annual award is presented to an Arlington Heights police officer demonstrating the most significant contributions that year toward the overall betterment of the community.

The award, which will be presented on Thursday, March 12, is sponsored by the Arlington Heights Rotary Club, and is named for Bill Calderwood, Arlington Heights Chief of Police from January 1958 through November 1976. Nominations for Officer of the Year can be made by any member of the Police Department. Selection of the recipient is by majority vote of Department supervisory staff.

This year's voting resulted in the selection of Officer Douglas Glanz who began his career with the Police Department in 2008. Prior to joining Arlington Heights, Officer Glanz attended Oakton Community College, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement. He then worked several years in the security field before starting his law enforcement career with the Cook County Sheriff's Department in 1998. In 2001 he was hired as a Police Officer for the Village of Kenilworth.

Doug is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. He is a member of the Police Department's Crisis Intervention Team, which deals with individuals suffering from mental health issues. As a member of the Arlington Heights Police Department, Doug has received multiple distinguished performance citations and was the recipient of the Medal of Valor in 2014.

Glanz is known for sincere efforts to help people on routine call and emergency calls in Arlington Heights.

Officer Douglas Glanz has been married to his wife Jamie since 2002. They reside in Arlington Heights with their four children, Carson (19), Emilie (10), Hanna (9) and Brice (6).
