Downed Power Line with Arcing Closes Rand Road Near Schoenbeck Road Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:00 PM Tuesday to a report of a downed power line on Rand Road just north of the intersection of Rand Road and Schoenbeck Road Arlington Heights, IL.. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report from an Arlington Heights Fire Department Deputy Chief that a power line was down and arcing.

Arcing increased and forced closure of Rand Road in both directions. Initially, only the eastbound shoulder lane of Rand Road was closed.

Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights and Mount Prospect police blocked Rand Road while Arlington Heights sent a fire engine crew to standby until a ComEd crew arrived.

About 45 ComEd customers were without power because of the downed lined. Estimated restoration time is between 11:45 p.m. and 5:15 a.m. Restoration time could improve as crews investigate and work on the damaged lines.

The power line went down near Rolling Green County Club along the south shoulder of Rand Road.
