Man Taunts Police to Come and Get Him Off Roof at SouthPoint Shopping Center, Arlington Heights -- Police Tactical Squad Reponds

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:37 AM Friday to 760 East Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report from a man that sent text messages to 9-1-1 saying that he was on the roof of the Cybernet Cafe in SouthPoint Shopping Center.

He apparently was taunting police to come and get him.

The man would not come down and police called firefighter/paramedics to assist with a ladder to access the roof. Firefighters were then staged in a remote area.

At about 1:52 p.m. police called in a NIPAS Emergency Services Team to get the man off of the roof.

NIPAS started arriving just before 2:25 p.m. and a convoy of armored vehicles arrived about 2:25 p.m.

About 3:05 a.m., the man jumped from a ladder to the ground and was taken into custody and transported to Northwest Community Hospital.
