Teen Girl Assaulted While Jogging Near Lakeland Drive and Lakeview Drive, Lake Barrington

Lake County Sheriff's police 3:00 PM Friday to an attack in a wooded area in the block of 26000 Lakeland Drive Lake Barrington, IL. Lake County sheriff's police received a report that a 16-year-old girl was jogging Friday when a man attempted to drag her into a wooded area.

The girl told Lake County Sheriff's deputies that the man grabbed her from behind as she jogged along the roadway near a wooded area. The girl was wearing headphones and did not hear the man approaching.


The girl successfully fought the man, and he ran away. The girl then contacted her mother, who called 9-1-1. The girl reported no serious physical injuries.

The offender was described as a male/white in his early 40s, 5' 9" with light brown or blond hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and black gym shoes.

Police searched the area with the assistance of a K-9 unit, but were unable to locate the offender. No tracking details were available.

The crime is reported to have occurred at about 3:00 p.m. Friday July 17, 2015.
