Funeral and Procession Details for Fox Lake Police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz

Fox Lake police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz's funeral is scheduled for Monday, September 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Antioch High School.

Public viewing will begin at 9 a.m. at Antioch High School, 1133 Main St. The burial will be at Hillside East Cemetery, also in Antioch.

The funeral service (1:00 p.m.) involves an 18-mile a post-funeral procession (departing at 2:00 p.m.)through Antioch, his hometown, and Fox Lake, the community he served as a police officer.

The procession, which is expected to include public-safety vehicles from around the Chicagoland area, will proceed south on Route 83 and pass beneath a large U.S. flag posted above Chestnut Street before leaving downtown Antioch.

At Route 173, the procession will turn west and then turn south on Route 59. At Grass Lake Road, the route will turn south on State Park Road and head to Route 12, and then turn south into downtown Fox Lake.

The procession will then head east onto Old Grand Avenue, and will turn south onto Rollins Road and then to Devlin Road, where it will head north on Route 59 to pass by the Fox Lake Police Department Headquarters.

Heading back to Antioch, the route includes a turn from Route 59 onto eastbound 173 to northbound Deep Lake Road. The route will end at Hillside East Cemetery near Deep Lake and Depot roads.

"The line (of vehicles) could easily be several miles long," he said. "Police officers will be here from all around the country."

Terry Roderick, a Sangamon County sheriff's deputy who works with the Police Survivors, said organizers are expecting 3,000 to 5,000 mourners driving nearly as many vehicles.
