Man with a Gun in Custody South of Fairway Greens Apartments, Wheeling
Wheeling police responded about 8:47 AM Friday to a report of a man with a gun south of Fairway View Drive, Wheeling, IL. Police received a report that a male/white subject was possibly walking with a long gun near the south end of the Fairway Green Apartment complex.
The suspicious suspect was described as wearing a baseball hat with a tan jacket or tan hoodie and black jeans, and carrying a backpack. He was possibly hiding in the bushes and then walking north from the pond and Buffalo Creek south of the apartment complex when police arrived.
Police reported discovering the man on the east side of the Fairway Green Apartments complex.
Police had the man with a gun down on the ground and detained at gunpoint by 9:02 a.m. and the subject was in custody at 9:04 a.m.
The scene was declared to be secure at 9:05 a.m.
The man was apparently transported in custody to Wheeling Police Department headquarters.
No connection implied, but this scene was very close to the scene of a stabbing and fight that occurred Sunday night about 8:57 p.m. at an apartment in the Fairway Greens Apartments complex.
