Man Attempted to Stab Woman, "Took Something from Her" at Apartment Complex on West Rand Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:31 PM Monday to a report that male subject was trying to stab a woman at Stonebridge Apartments, 700 West Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a man fled the scene after trying to stab a woman, and ran behind "the barbecue place" on Rand Road. Police found the apparent offender by 1:33 p.m. and were investigating. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that the male subject attempted to stab a woman, took something from her and ran away. No word yet if the male subject was arrested. He was described as a male/white subject about 25-years-old wearing a black hoodie and sweatpants. No injuries were reported and paramedics left the scene without transporting any people. Attempted Armed Robbery with a Knife on W. Rand Rd Near Hintz Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 5:51 PM Saturday to an armed robbery in the block of Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an in known offender with a knife attempted to take the victim's car keys. The offender was described as a Hispanic male 18-20 years old, 5'6, and slender, last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and long pants. Arlington Heights police did not specify whether the armed robbery occurred near Crave or in a neighborhood nearby. Woman Shot Just South of US Cellular Field on 38th Place Near Princeton Ave, Chicago

Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:45 PM Friday to a report of a woman shot in a car near 238 West 38th Place Chicago, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that the woman was sitting in the back seat of a car when she was shot. The 30-year-old victim was sitting in the back seat of a car just northeast of 38th Street and Princeton Avenue when an unknown offender shot the woman in the back. Chicago Fire Department paramedics transported their patient to Stroger Hospital, where the gunshot victim was pronounced dead. Chicago police said the car belongs to a driver who operates a neighborhood car service. The driver, who was not hurt, did not know the victim. Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:23 AM Saturday to and activated fire alarm followed by a 9-1-1 call reporting a balcony on fire at 909 West Panorama Drive Palatine, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a propane tank was on fire on a townhouse balcony. Police on the scene reported flames were showing from the balcony and the roof. First firefighters on the scene reported heavy smoke showing from the rear of the building, then reported heavy fire at the rear of the building. Firefighters led out with a line to the rear yard and hit the fire. A second line was also led out interior and moved up to the second floor to check whether fire spread inside. Pedestrian Hit by a Train on the Milwaukee District North Line Near Edgebrook Woods -- Laramie Ave and Seminole Ave

Chicago firefighters, paramedics and police and Metra police responded about 6:07 PM Friday to a report of a pedestrian hit by a train near Laramie Avenue and Seminole Avenue Chicago, IL. Firefighters had difficulty locating the body of a pedestrian that was hit by a train between the Forest Glen Metra station and the Edgebrook Metra station near Edgebrook Woods. Firefighters found the victim near the front of the train by 6:38 p.m. Initially the incident was reported at Devon Avenue and Central Avenue near the Edgebrook Metra station. Inbound and outbound train movement has been halted near Edgebrook due to train #2141 striking a pedestrian. The duration of this delay is unknown but extensive delays are anticipated. Buffalo Grove Woman Loses $50,022 in Scam by Male Correspondent on Match.com

Buffalo Grove police received a report that a Buffalo Grove woman was scammed out of $50,022 between October and January by a man she met on a matchmaking service, according to Buffalo Grove police. In January on Match.com, the scammer told the 59-year-old woman that he was a secret service agent with his life and job in jeopardy because he failed to deliver a suitcase containing a large amount of cash to a king in Poland. He he told the woman that the suitcase was intercepted and missing. While corresponding with the Buffalo Grove woman for several months, the man also claimed he was working as an undercover secret service in Aleppo, Syria. She withdrew $20,000 from her IRA account and purchased a cashier's check on January 29, 2016, and deposited the check in the bank account of a man who the offender said was his associate. Central Rd Blocked After High Winds Blow Panels Off NCH South Pavilion Hospital Tower, Arlington Heights

Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that part of the roof was blowing of the rear part of the hospital. Firefighters arrived to discover that wall panels from a mechanical room penthouse on the roof peeled away in high winds at the southwest corner of the South Pavilion. The beautiful nine-story $250 million South Pavilion, which opened Spring 2010, was damaged when at least one of the panels crashed through a hospital room window on an upper floor in the southwest corner. Cook County Sheriff's police reported late Tuesday afternoon that they are talking with a driver who may have been involved in an apparent hit-and-run vehicle vs pedestrian incident that resulted in the death of a Niles woman on Golf Road in the Village of Golf. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Izah Malik. Her body was found as officers responded to a 6:25 a.m. call that the body had been found at Golf Road and Overlook Drive. Wheeling Home Invasion Fugitive Apprehended in Mexico Is Returned to Cook County to Face Charges

An investigation by the Cook County Sheriff's Central Warrant Unit, the Wheeling Police Department and the FBI led to apprehension of a man in Mexico who is wanted in a Wheeling home invasion case, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today. Steve Chung, 28, was one of two people charged in a 2014 home invasion that occurred in Wheeling. The victim was held at gunpoint and beaten. An arrest warrant was issued in June 2015 for Chung, whose last known address was in Des Plaines, after he stopped coming to court. Working with Wheeling Police, the Sheriff's Central Warrant Unit learned last month that Chung was in Guadalajara, Mexico. He had been living in Mexico since June 2015, teaching English online. The Central Warrant Unit contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation Violent Crime Task Force for assistance in locating him. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a patient had a knife in the triage bay at the Northwest Community Hospital Emergency Room. Firefighter/paramedics staged near the facility. The incident appeared to have prompted an ILEAS and/or NIPAS response. Arlington Heights police observed a driver make a traffic violation as he turned into the parking lot near Subway, just north of Mariano's, 5:18 PM Thursday 812 East Kensington Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police initially noticed the vehicle near Kensington Road and Dryden Place. Police then observed two men leave the car, which was a rental car, and make a telephone, which turned out to be a call for an Uber ride. The men left their vehicle at the Subway parking lot and departed in the Uber vehicle. Police also observed the men behaving in a furtive manner before they departed the parking lot just north of Mariano's Fresh Market.
