Suspicious Person Checked Locked Door with Residents Home on Carlyle Place, Stonegate Neighborhood

A suspicious person checked a rear, side door at a house in Stonegate neighborhood about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday November 29, 2016.

The offender tested a locked door with a firm attempt to twist the outdoor door lever at a house on Carlyle Place north of Wilshire Lane.

There was no description of the suspicious person available.

Several thefts occur in residences in Arlington Heights with no signs of forcible entry. An offender only needs to get lucky that a resident forgot to lock a door, and make quick entry into a room with an outer door, find a valuable, such as an Apple iPad, and flee with the valuable.

Car Crash Into Zip Fitness Center on West Rand Rd Arlington Heights -- No Injuries

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:04 AM Wednesday to a report of a car vs building crash with unknown injuries at Zip Fitness, 50 West Rand Road Arlington Heights, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a car crashed into a fitness center building.

A caller reported an elderly couple were inside the vehicle, but that they weren't sure whether they were trapped or injured.

Police were first on the scene and reported no entrapment.

Engine 4's crew on arrival confirmed a car into the building by 11:08 a.m.

Paramedics were immediately checking on a male senior and female senior that were inside the vehicle, and no injuries were reported inside the fitness center.

Neither of the vehicle occupants appeared to have serious injuries, and both patients refused transportation to a hospital.

Firefighters used a Hurst cutter tool to remove the retail fitness center front window frame.

Hillside Towing removed the vehicle from the building.

Fire Or Smoke In Portable Classroom Hvac at Lincoln Elementary School on Ridgewood Ln, Palaine

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:54 PM Tuesday to an activated fire alarm at Lincoln Elementary School, 1021 N Ridgewood Lane Palatine, Il. Firefighter/paramedics crews on arrival reported smoke in a portable classroom at the back of the building by 9:00 p.m.

An interior crew reported no fire in the soffit; fire or smoke was in the HVAC unit by 9:07 p.m.

Companies were pulling ceilings and walls, looking for extension by 9:07 p.m.

Car Vs Freight Locomotive Crash on Up Northwest Line Near Main St and Prospect Ave, Mount Prospect

Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:12 PM Tuesday to a report of car vs train crash with injuries at Main Street and Prospect Avenue Mount Prospect, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find that a westbound train consisting of two UP freight locomotives and a caboose hit a maroon ~1990 Honda Accord.

The driver, a male, age 82, was extricated with a quick extrication. He was transported to Northwest Community Hospital for observation, apparently with no injuries.

No serious injuries were detected at the scene.

The driver was apparently southbound on Main Street and hit the train gate that was coming down for the approaching freight locomotives. The gate scraped the roof of the car, and the Honda Accord almost made it across the tracks, but was struck in the rear trunk area by front locomotive.

The railroad crossing gate did not break, and was inspected later in the day.

Union Pacific reported the train was traveling about 35 mph when it hit the back end of the vehicle. The locomotive were not able to stop until Pine Street, across from Mia's Cantina.

Arlington Heights police received a report about 3:09 AM Monday of criminal damage to property in the block of 4100 North Bloomington Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders criminally damaged windows at three residences in Arlington Heights.

Unknown offender(s) damaged the victim's apartment window with BB pellets. The cost to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the police report.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Friday, November 25, 2016 between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 3:00 (hours: minutes).

Also, in the block of 600 North Beverly Avenue unknown offender(s) damaged the front window of the victim's residence with BB pellets. Again, the cost to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the police report.

Rollover Box Truck Crash on Ramp from NB Route 53 To WB Lake Cook Road, Long Grove

Small Fire In A Newstand at The Ogilvie Transportation, Chicago

Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:49 PM Sunday to a report of a fire at the Ogilvie Transportation Center 500 West Madison Street Chicago, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a fire in the high-rise building the Chicago Metra train station.

The first Chicago fire crew on arrival reported nothing showing from the 43-story commercial high-rise, fire-resistive.

BC3 reports smoke inside and requests a Still and Box and EMS Plan 1 at the scene.

Fire command reported a small fire in a newsstand extinguished by the sprinkler system.

The fire was declared out with a conventional lead out, and light smoke conditions in the building.

Firefighters were immediately ventilating with three power fans and clearing smoke from the interior building and train tunnel.

Firefighters were also searching the facility for an possible victims. There was no report of any fire or smoke victims as of 9:22 p.m.

Motorcyclist Thrown from Bike on Eastbound I-90 Between Barrington Rd and Roselle Rd, Hoffman Estates

Illinois State Police, Hoffman Estates firefighter/paramedics, and Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:24 PM Saturday to a report of a car vs motorcycle crash with injuries at 42.066357, -88.134789 (EB I-90 and Barrington Road Hoffman Estates, Il). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a motorcycle crash with injuries occurred on eastbound I-90 between Barrington Road and Roselle Road.


A caller reported the crash motorcycle was in the ditch off the right shoulder. The caller also reported the motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle, but is up and walking.

Police on scene confirmed the crash is east of Barrington Road.

A Hoffman Estates fire crew on arrival reported the crash involved a total of three vehicles on eastbound I-90 about 1/2-mile east of Barrington Road.

All Schaumburg companies returned by 3:27 p.m.

Hoffman Estates crew reported the crash was about one-half mile east of Barrington Road in the construction zone.

Rollover Crash with Injuries on EB I-88 Near Elburn and Kaneville Injures 2, Shuts Down I-88 Both Directions

Illinois State police, Kane County Sheriff's deupties, firefighter/paramedics, and IDOT responded about 11:24 PM Thursday to a report of rollover crash with injuries at 41.831046, -88.482442 (EB I-88 and Mile Marker 108). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report a rollover SUV extrication crash with injuries on Eastbound I-88 just west of Route 47.

One patient transported by helicopter; one patient transported by ground ambulance. Both patients described with serious injuries, according to Illinois State Police.

Rescuers received a report by 11:27 a.m. that two adults were trapped in the vehicle Engine 1601's was assigned as ground contact with the medical helicopter.

A LifeStar medical helicopter was enroute by about 11:33 a.m. with a 17 minute ETA.

Command requested a shutdown of westbound lanes of I-88 by 11:35 a.m. Illinois State Police and county deputies were also confirmed en route.

A crew on arrival by 11:38 a.m. reported seeing one patient that needs to be extricated that is already being helped by an Illinois State Trooper. A crew arriving also reported the vehicle rolled over on the passenger side.

Command requested shut down of all westbound traffic for a helicopter Landing Zone (LZ) on I-88, blocking I-88 at Route 56 by 11:40 a.m.

The LifeStar Medevac helicopter landed in the LZ in the westbound lanes by about 11:53 a.m.

Engine1607's crew reported extrication complete by 12:05 p.m.

The LifeStar helicopter was back in the air with a patient by about 12:08 p.m.

IDOT kept I-88 closed at Route 56.

The crash involved a single vehicle -- a Honda Pilot that rolled over for an unknown reason.

All lanes in both directions of I-88 were re-opened by 12:35 p.m.

Arlington Heights Police Seek Help Identifying Vehicle Associated with BB Shot Damage to Multiple Vehicles

Arlington Heights Police Department is seeking help from the public seeking several Criminal Damage to Vehicle Cases in multiple locations in Arlington Heights.

The damage is apparently being caused by shots of BB pellets.

Arlington Heights Police Department has provided surveillance images from a criminal damage incident the 2400 block of North Evergreen Avenue.

Arlington Heights Police Department initially expects the damage is occurring at random, and recommends vehicle owners park their vehicles in a garage, or as far up the driveway as possible.

Engine 3's crew on arrival reports fire showing the a rear sliding glass door; leading out with a line.

Engine 3's crew reported they knocked the fire by about 6:22 a.m. Engine 3's crew then extended a line into the apartment to extinguish hot spots by about 6:25 a.m.

Mount Prospect Engine 12 firefighters checking for extension the second floor by 6:28 a.m.

Engine 12 crew reported minor smoke on the second floor.

Firefighters searched for extension on the first floor and reported no extension.

Elk Grove Engine 8 and Arlington Heights Ambulance 2 in staging.

The building department was requested to the scene at 6:31 a.m.

Small Fire at Christian Liberty Academy on West Euclid Ave, Arlington Heights -- Northeast Corner of Building

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:54 PM Sunday to an Activated Fire Alarm at Christian Liberty Academy, 502 West Euclid Avenue Arlington Heights, Il. The first fire crew was out investigating by 8:57 AM.

Battalion 1 reported smoke showing from the roof in a single-story section on the east side of the school building. Battalion 1 upgraded the fire alarm response to a fire response by 9:03 a.m.

Crews were hooking up to hydrants by 9:04 a.m.

Interior crews asked for a keyholder to help with access to areas of the building by about 9:05 a.m.

Engine 2 crew reported a heavy haze in the northeast corner of the building, and couldn't find the seat of the fire by 9:07 a.m.

Engine 4 crew reported they have a fire in Room 101 and upgraded to a working fire response.

The fire load in the room appeared to be papers and file boxes in Room C-101. Tower Ladder 1 crew was making their way into the fire area by 9:13 a.m.

Engine 4 crew reported the fire is extinguished with heavy smoke still in the room. The believed the fire was out by 9:16 a.m.

Crews moved to ventilation phase by about 9:17 a.m. Crews were opening windows and began bringing fans from truck companies.

Tower Ladder 1 crew reported no extension, but that they have a lot of smoke north of the fire room by 9:24 a.m. Ventilation continued, and a fire investigator was called to the scene

Arlington Heights police received a report about 4:22 PM Monday of a theft at ToyodaAmericas, 316 West University Drive Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders removed scrap metal from the storage bins behind the business.

The value of the metal scrap was unknown at the time of the police report.

The crime in the industrial zone near University Drive and Campus Drive is reported to have occurred on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 4:03 PM.

Criminal Damage: Add One More Vehicle Shot with BB Pellets in North Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 12:01 PM Tuesday of criminal damage to vehicle in the block of 1600 North Belmont Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders criminally damaged the victim's 2004 black Chrysler Town & Chrysler with BB pellets.


The cost to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the police report.

The crime is reported to have occurred between Monday, November 14, 2016 at 9:00 PM and Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 12:00 PM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 15:00 (hours: minutes).

Eight other vehicles were reported damaged with windows shot out by BB pellets in north Arlington Heights with three of the vehicles damaged in same neighborhood on Lynnwood Avenue and Douglas Avenue.

Eight Vehicles with Windows Shot Out with BB Pellets on the North Side of Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 6:01 AM Monday of criminal damage to vehicle in the block of 1500 North Douglas Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders criminally damaged damaged the victim's 2015 white Acura TLX with BB pellets.

The cost to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the police report.

The crime is reported to have occurred between Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 06:00 PM and Monday, November 14, 2016 at 06:00 AM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 12:0 (hours: minutes).

Seven other vehicles were also reported damaged in approximately the same time frame. The cost to repair the damage was unknown in all cases at the time of the police report.

Special Thanksgiving Traffic Enforcement Campaigns Underway Through November 28

The Arlington Heights Police Department has started specialized traffic enforcement activities relating to the Thanksgiving Holiday "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" enforcement campaigns now through November 28, 2016.

Enforcement activities will include numerous seatbelt enforcement zones, impaired driving saturation patrols, and a Roadside Safety Checkpoint. The checkpoint will take place of Friday, November 18, 2016 on Arlington Heights Road south of Algonquin Road.

Officers working the campaigns will be attempting to identify and cite motorists who choose to drive without using their safety belts, are driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or are committing other traffic-related offenses.

The campaigns are funded with federal traffic safety funds, which are administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation – Bureau of Safety Programs and Engineering.

High-Speed Pursuit Terminated on I-80, Then Crash and Burn Near I-55

Illinois State Police and Minooka and Troy FPD firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:52 PM Saturday to a rollover crash with injuries and vehicle fire at 41.484815, -88.224284 (I-80 Wb and Mp 126 Minooka, Il). The crash followed a police pursuit that was terminated about mile marker 124 on eastbound I-80.

An Illinois State Police District 17 unit was following a stolen dark blue BMW with a female/black occupant at 90 MPH on I-80 EB at mile post 118 late Saturday night. The vehicle failed to stop during an attempted police traffic stop. Illinois State Police District 5 were alerted as a pursuit developed and headed toward their district.

Police at eastbound mile marker 119 initiated a traffic stop about 9:34 p.m. A second vehicle, a silver Chevrolet Malibu, was also associated with the pursuit that shortly after 9:34 p.m.

Police reported the pursuit advanced to eastbound I-80 at Morris at 9:36 p.m.

The police pursuit was terminated at 9:37 p.m. when the BMW was described going over 100 MPH at eastbound Mile Marker 124.

A crash with injuries, ejection and fire occurred following the terminated pursuit. The suspect (crash victim) was in the stolen dark blue BMW after Illinois State Police pursuit was terminated, but was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

Police reported the vehicle crashed at mile Post 126 at 9:38 p.m. The vehicle rolled into oncoming westbound lanes and ignited to a fully-involved car fire. (The crash may have been further west near the I-80 curve about 1-2 miles west of I-55).

A LifeStar medevac helicopter was alerted but was notified to stand down.

Minooka Engine 1312's crew lead out from the eastbound side of I-80 in protective position and worked to extinguish the vehicle fire.

Troy FPD paramedics had patient contact with the crash victim about 9:54 p.m.

All westbound lanes wereshut down, and partial shutdown of eastbound lanes occurred with fire equipment in protective positions.

The fire was declared out at 9:55 p.m.

Troy Fire Protection District Ambulane 2214 transported the patient (suspect) with Advanced Life Support to Morris Hospital by 10:03 p.m.

The silver Chevrolet Malibu that was observed with the BMW was also reported stolen and was last seen on eastbound I-80 near Harlem Avenue, Tinley Park.

Vehicle Explosion on Tonset Lane Near Carver Ln, Schaumburg

Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:22 PM Thursday to a report of a building fire and a 1404 Tonset Lane Schaumburg, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a "big boom" at commercial strip mall building at 7-ELEVEN (1411 West Schaumburg Road Schaumburg, IL) with smoke coming from the parking lot.

A minute later firefighters received a report of a vehicle fire at 1404 Tonset Lane -- Engine 54's crew was assigned to Tonset Lane. Battalion Chief 5 assigned E51 to Tonset Lane, diverted from the 7-ELEVEN response..

Engine 51's crew on arrival reported they see no fire on Tonset Lane.

Crews reported some type of explosion involving a vehicle.

Witnesses reported multiple police vehicles on scene.

The explosion possibly involved a white Jeep Wrangler -- not confirmed.

Police taped off an area with yellow tape enclosing a driveway with at least two vehicles inside the tape perimeter.

Some fire companies were immediately available by 9:34 p.m. Engine 53 returned at 9:34 p.m., but Engine 52 was dispatched to the scene at 9:35 p.m.

No media release from Schaumburg police. No official information from @SchaumburgIL.

Mom Dies, Son Lives in House Fire on West Slade St Near Rose St, Palatine

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:51 PM Thursday to a report of a house fire at 308 West Slade Street Palatine, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a house fire that was reported by a next-door neighbor.

The first on arrival by 6:56 p.m. reported nothing showing -- out investigating.

Smoke was discovered inside. A police officer helped a male resident down the front stairs while firefighters masked up with SCBA breathing apparatus.

Police reported that someone might still be inside after male resident advised his mother was still inside. Police weren't able to make entry in the smoke-filled home.

One victim was in the front yard by 6:57 p.m.

A firefighter crew reported no fire in the basement by 7:02 p.m.

Firefighters called for a drug box and a heart monitor, needed at the front yard.

A female victim was possibly als brought out the back of the house by E84 crew by 7:06 p.m.

EMS called to the front by 7:06 p.m. CPR underway.

Quint 83's crew was working the line inside the house, and the fire was declared under control by 7:11 p.m.

Engine 82's crew was in the basement doing a secondary search by 7:16 p.m.

Ambulance 84's crew was in the kitchen doing a primary search by 7:16 p.m.

Firefighters confirmed a 40 year-old male rescued and a 77 year-old female were rescued from the house, and confirmed that no other residents were inside the house.

Palatine police and Palatine firefighter/paramedics received a report that Lake Zurich firefighter/paramedics were already on the scene of the crash on Quentin Road south of Lake Cook Road.

Police on arrival reported the crash is south of the intersection, and in Palatine's jurisdiction.

Hit-and-Run Property Damage Route 53 and Rand Rd, Arlington Heights

Illinois State police responded about 8:00 AM Tuesday to a hit-and-run crash property damage only at Route 53 and Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that the driver of a black Toyota 4-door left the scene of a property damage crash, and is wanted for investigation.

The offending vehicle was described as a 2005 black Toyota 4-door, having rear left damage with brown paint transfer.

The vehicle was last seen southbound on Route 53 or southbound on Rand Road from the Route 53 and Rand Road interchange.

The driver was described as a male/white, age 25, 5'8" tall.

Arlington Heights police responded about 12:39 AM Monday to an armed robbery at the Mobil gas station, 1880 South Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender entered the business, held up a knife and demanded money.

The offender is described as an unknown race male, unknown age, wearing a black mask, black pants, black hooded sweatshirt with a red backpack.

The crime is reported to have occurred at 12:49 a.m.

Two Men Flee Police from Shell Station at Arlington Heights Rd and Algonquin Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 12:20 AM Sunday to a report that an officer was attempting to contact two subjects for an unknown reason near the Shell gas station, Algonquin Road and Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police reported that the driver of a green 2000 Honda fled from the Shell gas station.

The vehicle and driver were last seen eastbound on Interstate 90 from Arlington Heights Road.

The driver was described as a male/black 5'6" 165 LBS wearing a gray T-shirt.

A male/black passenger fled on foot, and was last seen on foot westbound on Algonquin Road from Arlington Heights Road.

The passenger was described as a male/black with cornrows, wearing a blue jean jacket and blue jeans.

Mount Prospect police were possibly also involved in the incident.

House Fire on East Tano Ln Near Indian Grove Elementary School, Mount Prospect

Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:10 PM Sunday to a report of a house fire at 1831 East Tano Lane Mount Prospect, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a screened in porch was on fire at the back of the house.

A caller also reported that the fire is possibly extending to the next-door neighbor's house.

Mount Prospect police, first on the scene by 9:15 p.m., reported the entire back of the residence is on fire. Police reported the fire is not extending to the neighbor's house.

Prospect Heights Engine 39's crew first on scene reported a fire at the rear of the building. Mount Prospect Battalion Chief 3 immediately upgraded the response to a working fire -- Code 3.

Com Ed was requested to expedite to the scene for a downed power line service drop in the backyard. Nicor was also requested to the scene.

Apparently no injuries occurred.

Three Vehicles Burglarized on Woods Drive Near Rand Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 8:04 AM Thursday of a vehicle burglary in the block of 1600 Woods Drive Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders forced entry into the victim’s 2010 gray Toyota Corolla. The cost to repair a shattered window was unknown at the time of the police report.

Taken was a black cloth briefcase containing books and papers, valued at $50.

The crime is reported to have occurred  between Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 09:00 PM and Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 08:03 AM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 11:03 (hours: minutes).

Unknown offender(s) in the neighborhood also forced entry into a second vehicle -- a 2007 VW Rabbit. Taken was a Husky briefcase containing receipts, a passport, and cash. The cost to repair a damaged window was also unknown at the time of the police report.

The second vehicle was burglarized in about the same time frame

In a third crime, unknown offender(s) forced entry into a victim’s 2011 black Kia Forte. The victim’s laundry was removed from the large tote bag and left on the sidewalk. The cost to repair the damage to the vehicle's shattered window was unknown at the time of the police report.

The third crime is reported to have occurred between Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 09:30 PM and Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 07:45 AM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 10:15 (hours: minutes).

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:26 PM Saturday to a report of a pedestrian hit by a Metra passenger train, 137 West Wood Street Palatine, Il. Trains Halted Both Directions

Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a boy was hit by a Metra train.

The Metra was possibly not at the scene immediately after the accident.

There was a confirmed death at the scene by 2:28 p.m.
