Southwest Airlines Flight: Emergency Landing Just After Take Off at Midway Airport -- Possibly Ingested Bird

Chicago firefighters and paramedics responded about 10:05 AM Thursday to standby for a report of a Southwest Boeing 737 aircraft returning to Midway International Airport immediately after takeoff 41.781331, -87.746653 (Midway Runway 31C Chicago, Il). Chicago firefighters and paramedics reponded to Runway 31C and Staging Area C to a report that a Southwest Boeing 737 aircraft Flight 105 ingested a bird and circled back in immediately after takeoff.

The aircraft landed safely by 10:09 a.m. (10:07 a.m.) after taking at about 9:56 a.m. The flight was scheduled to depart at 9:30 a.m. and arrive in Las Vegas (LAS) at 11:30 a.m.

Before the aircraft landed, a female officer on Chicago Fire Department Engine 127 was reporting that the aircraft was a Boeing 747.

Southwest Airlines Flight 105 was actually a Boeing 737-8H4, according to flightradar24.com. The aircraft circled over Bedford Park, Bridgeview, Orland Park, Alsip and Oak Lawn while returning to Midway International Airport, and landing from the southeast on Runway 31C. The aircraft reached an altitude of about 3,000 feet before descending while returning to the airport, according to flightradar24.com.
