Metra Trains Halted Again: Metra Train Hits Pedestrian In Crystal Lake Near Grant St, Crystal Lake
Crystal Lake police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:47 AM Thursday to a report of crash with injuries at 70 East Woodstock Street Crystal Lake, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a person hit by a Metra train (#636) with the injured person located near Grant Street on the north side of the railroad tracks.
The train was already delayed from an earlier fatal train vs car crash at Northwest Highway and Nagle Avenue in Chicago at 7:08 a.m.
The incident near the Crystal Lake Metra Station was declared a fatal train vs pedestrian incident about 11:15 a.m.
The Metra train incident marks the third incident in less than 24 hours in the northwest suburbs. Yesterday a Prospect Heights Police Department SUV was hit by a Metra passenger train on the Metra North Central Service line at Camp McDonald Road. The police officer suffered apparent minor injuries.
No passengers or train crew members reported any injuries immediately following any of the three incidents.
