One Person Reported Killed in Ottawa as Tornado Damages Homes and Buildings in Naplate and Ottawa, Illinois

Naplate police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:22 PM Tuesday to a report of crash with injuries at Center Street and 18th Street Naplate, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics responded to widespread tornado damage in Naplate and Ottawa, Illinois.

Ottawa Police reported one person was killed by the storm in the block of 700 State Street on the south side of Ottawa. At least one other person was seriously injured.

Major damage was reported at Center Street and 18th Avenue in Naplate, just east of the Illinois River, which is also just east of the location where the fatality was reported on State Street in Ottawa.

Firefighters in the Ottawa and Naplate first started toning out for mutual aid at about 5:22 p.m.

MABAS Division 25 EMS Box Alarm (Second Level) on Box #200 for a tornado touchdown.

Naplate Fire Department was requesting any available fire engine or rescue squad at 5:32 p.m.

Troy Grove was en route to Naplate with six firefighters on an engine by 5:41p.m.

A MABAS Division 25 TRT Team was requested to Naplate Fire Department at 5:45 p.m. -- report of houses "unacceptable" and reports of people possibly trapped.

Coal City 3192 and 3116 responded with six personnel on board by 5:46 p.m.

Light Towers were requested for Naplate at 6:20 p.m.
