Arlington Heights Police Arrest Man at Target at Rand and Thomas After Motorist Complaint that Driver Flashed Gun

Arlington Heights police responded about 8:00 AM Sunday to a report of a driving complaint involving a male displaying a gun near Rand Road and Thomas Street Arlington Heights, IL. Police officers investigating the complaint were able to locate a vehicle matching the description in the Target parking lot.

The offender's vehicle was a black 1990s model Lexus SC sedan or coupe.

Police located the suspect in the Target, and determined that he had a weapon. The suspect was identified as Christopher A. Smith, Jr of the block of 2200 Foster Street in Evanston. According to Arlington Heights Police Department, Christopher A. Smith, Jr. did not possess a FOID card and did not possess a Concealed Carry Permit.

Christopher A. Smith Jr. was arrested about 10:20 p.m. and charged with Unlawful Use of Weapon. His vehicle was towed to a police holding area.

Christopher A. Smith Jr. was released on bond, and is due in Cook County Circuit Court Rolling Meadows on June 1, 2018.
