House Fire on East Thornhill Lane Near Larkspur Ln, Palatine

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:34 PM Monday to a report of a house fire on Thornhill Lane and Larkspur Lane Palatine, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that residents inside the home reported the side of the house was on fire with smoke in a bedroom. Fire command immediately upgraded to the call to a working fire (Code 4 by 10:36 p.m.) Battalion Cheif 8 reported a header visible by 10:39 p.m. and on arrival reported fire on the side of the house (by 10:40 p.m.) Battalion Chief 8 reported fire was showing "all the way" to the left side of the house, when looking at the house from the street. The fire was possibly started on the exterior of the house. Primary and secondary searches were complete and clear by 10:54 p.m. after residents reported everyone was evacuated. House Fire on Wilke Rd Just South of Euclid Ave, Arlington Heights: Attic Fire Quickly Extinguished

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:14 PM Sunday to a report of a house fire in the block of 500 North Wilke Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a chimney was on fire. Upon arrival of the first engine on the scene from Rolling Meadows, firefighters reported smoke showing from the chimney area. Firefighters then reported fire showing under the cap of the chimney. Fire also broke through the the front roof gable area. The fire was quickly knocked down by a firefighter with a hose line in the front yard. The fire was upgraded to a Working Fire response (Code 4) when it was discovered there was fire in the attic. The fire was extinguished before 6:51 p.m. Firefighters used salvage covers to protect the first floor while they checked for extension of fire in the attic and the ceiling of the first floor. CTA Elevated Train Stuck on Switch Over Jarvis Ave Near Ashland Ave, Chicago

Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:14 AM Sunday to a report of a CTA elevated train derailment at 1523 Jarvis Avenue Chicago, Il. Chicago Fire Department Battalion Chief 9 initially reported that a Red Line train derailed by only jumping the track, and no passengers were injured. Later, firefighters and CTA officials determined that the problem was not a train derailment, but a weather-related problem at a switch. Crews helped transfer passengers off the derailed car into stable cars in the same train, and detached the car with the issue at the switch. The CTA then moved the functioning part of the train back to the Howard Station. For the safety of firefighters and CTA personnel, power was cut to the rails, but was restored quickly to move passengers back to the Howard Station. Crash Involving A Semi-Trailer Truck and Charter Bus NB I-294 Near St Charles Rd, Berkeley

Illinois State Police, Berkley police and Berkeley firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:05 PM Monday to a report of a crash with injuries involving a semi-trailer truck and a bus if fire 41.889908, -87.917730 (NB I-294 and St Charles Rd Berkeley, Il). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a semi-trailer truck crashed into a bus, causing a fire. Firefighters on arrival reported both vehicles on fire. Three fire engines ran out of water about 7:22 p.m. and Berkeley's Battalion Chief called for Foam Task Force from Chicago Fire Department for assistance. The Battalion Chief also called for two more fire engines and a ladder truck to try to throw water over the wood sound barrier wall. Firefighters were considering cutting through the sound barrier wall, but it was initially unknown whether the did cut through the wall. The fire was close to a residential neighborhood in Berkeley near Superior Street west of Arthur Street, just north of St Charles Road. I

Toyota Camry Crash Into Fitness Center at S Buffalo Grove Rd and Dundee Rd, Buffalo Grove

Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:52 AM Saturday to a report of a crash into Workout Anytime fitness center, 700 South Buffalo Grove Rd Buffalo Grove, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a car crashed into the fitness center and caused structural damage, but that nobody was injured. A paramedic ambulance crew was dispatched at the request of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department Battalion Chief about 10:03 a.m. to check on the driver as a precaution. The older adult male driver was transported by paramedics to Northwest Community Hospital. Arlington Heights Fire Department CPR Class January 28, 2019

The Arlington Heights Fire Department will host a Heartsaver CPR course on Monday, January 28. The course is for the lay responder and it teaches recognition and emergency resuscitation techniques for adult heart attack and stroke; injury and cardiac arrest prevention; treatment of cardiac emergencies in adults and infants - this course does not cover cardiac emergencies in children; and choking in adults and infants. The course does not cover choking in children. A course completion card from the American Heart Association will be issued to participants who have successfully completed the CPR course objectives and practical testing. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that the public works was excavating and hit a gas main. The first crew on arrival reported a large break -- possibly a 4-inch main. Neighbors in the area were evacuated, and there was a strong smell of natural gas in the area. Wind was initially reported at W 6.8 MPH G16.9 MPH. Armed Robbery, Handgun Displayed at 24-Hour Store at Hintz Rd and Windsor , Arlington Heights
