Commercial Vehicle Burglary at Public Storage on Davis St, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 4:46 PM Friday of a vehicle burglary at 1600 East Davis Street Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders forced entry into the rear cargo compartment of the victim's 1995 white Chevy truck.

Reported taken was a Minuteman carpet scrubber value $4000, a 15-foot metal ramp valued at $2,000, and five 8-gallon mop buckets valued at $100 each.

The cost to repair the damage to the vehicle was unknown at the time of the police report.

Theft of a License Plate on South Goebbert Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 7:31 PM Saturday of a theft of a license plate in the block of 2200 South Goebbert Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders removed the rear license plate on the victim's 2008 Pontiac G6.

$3K Vehicle Damage in Burglary Attempt on West Golf Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 3:46 PM Tuesday of an attempted vehicle burglary at Stone Fireplaces, 512 West Golf Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders attempted to force entry into the victim's 2016 white Ford Econoline van. No items were reported missing, but offenders damaged the van's lock, resulting in an estimated repair cost of $3,000.

Crash Involving A Semi-Trailer Truck and Charter Bus NB I-294 Near St Charles Rd, Berkeley

Illinois State Police, Berkley police and Berkeley firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:05 PM Monday to a report of a crash with injuries involving a semi-trailer truck and a bus if fire 41.889908, -87.917730 (NB I-294 and St Charles Rd Berkeley, Il). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a semi-trailer truck crashed into a bus, causing a fire.

Firefighters on arrival reported both vehicles on fire. Three fire engines ran out of water about 7:22 p.m. and Berkeley's Battalion Chief called for Foam Task Force from Chicago Fire Department for assistance. The Battalion Chief also called for two more fire engines and a ladder truck to try to throw water over the wood sound barrier wall. Firefighters were considering cutting through the sound barrier wall, but it was initially unknown whether the did cut through the wall. The fire was close to a residential neighborhood in Berkeley near Superior Street west of Arthur Street, just north of St Charles Road.

Initially no information was available about victims. A large number of ambulances were not dispatched to the scene. The fire was declared under control by 8:10 p.m.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a Peoria Charter Bus was parked on the right shoulder when it was hit by a semi-trailer truck. Both vehicles were fully-involved with fire. After the crash the truck came to rest at least 250 feet in front of the bus.

Residential Burglary Attempt at Apartment on Bloomington Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 6:16 AM Wednesday of an attmpted residential burglary at an apartment in the block of 4200 North Bloomington Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders attempted to climb into the victim's unlocked window. The victim screamed and the offender left. The offender is described as a male wearing black jeans and black boots with black laces.

The crime is reported to have occurred between Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM and Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 6:15 AM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 91:15 (hours: minutes).

Toyota Camry Crash Into Fitness Center at S Buffalo Grove Rd and Dundee Rd, Buffalo Grove

Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:52 AM Saturday to a report of a crash into Workout Anytime fitness center, 700 South Buffalo Grove Rd Buffalo Grove, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a car crashed into the fitness center and caused structural damage, but that nobody was injured.

A paramedic ambulance crew was dispatched at the request of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department Battalion Chief about 10:03 a.m. to check on the driver as a precaution. The older adult male driver was transported by paramedics to Northwest Community Hospital.

The vehicle -- a Toyota Camry -- crashed front-end first through a glass door frame, glass window frames, and a lower decorative wall at the south side of the building and came to rest about three car lengths inside the building. Firefighters and building department officials determined that there was no major structural damage to the building.

Firefighters initiated contact with the building management company and a board-up company via Northwest Central Dispatch System.

The fitness business was able to stay fully operational, and was only affected by temporary board up of glass doors and windows.

Workout Anytime has eight locations in Chicagoland -- Buffalo Grove, Crest Hill, Darien, Downers Grove, Mundelein, Naperville (2), and Wauconda.

Arlington Heights Fire Department CPR Class January 28, 2019

The Arlington Heights Fire Department will host a Heartsaver CPR course on Monday, January 28. The course is for the lay responder and it teaches recognition and emergency resuscitation techniques for adult heart attack and stroke; injury and cardiac arrest prevention; treatment of cardiac emergencies in adults and infants - this course does not cover cardiac emergencies in children; and choking in adults and infants. The course does not cover choking in children.

A course completion card from the American Heart Association will be issued to participants who have successfully completed the CPR course objectives and practical testing.

The January 28th class is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Arlington Heights Fire Department Administration Building located at 1150 North Arlington Heights Road in the Training room located on the 2nd floor.  The cost is $20 per person for an Arlington Heights resident and $50 per person for non-residents, which includes textbook and CPR card. Due to scheduling of personnel and classroom, registration fees are non-refundable.  In the event a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.  Those interested are welcome to fill out a CPR Registration Form [PDF] if interested in attending. 

All instructors are certified through the American Heart Association.  Class size is limited to 18 students with a minimum age of 16 years old in order to participate. 

The Fire Department’s CPR courses are scheduled on January 28, March 11, May 22, July 15, September 4 and November 12 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Arlington Heights Fire Department Administration Building, 1150 N. Arlington Heights Road, in the Training room on the second floor.

Gas Main Break on Essex Rd Near Carlisle Ave Elk Grove Village

Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:05 PM Friday to a report of a gas main break with a leak on Essex Road Essex Road and Carlisle Avenue Elk Grove Village, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that the public works was excavating and hit a gas main. The first crew on arrival reported a large break -- possibly a 4-inch main.

Neighbors in the area were evacuated, and there was a strong smell of natural gas in the area.

Wind was initially reported at W 6.8 MPH G16.9 MPH.

The estimated time for repair was indicated to require about four to five hours, which would place the repair time at about 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nicor was on the scene by about 2:35 p.m. and beginning repairs.

Retail Theft Suspects Take Almost $1000 in Products at Beauty Supply Store, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 4:25 AM Sunday to a report of a retail theft at Sally Beauty, 379 East Palatine Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that unknown offenders removed six packages of hair extension, valued at $669 and three CHI flat irons, valued at $299, from the business.

The offenders are described as ...

a black female, stocky build, mid 20s, wearing a blue jean jacket and green pants, and

a black male 6 ft, skinny build, wearing all black and carrying a backpack. The suspects were seen leaving in a silver minivan.

Armed Robbery, Handgun Displayed at 24-Hour Store at Hintz Rd and Windsor , Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 5:06 PM Wednesday to an armed robbery at 7-ELEVEN, 1418 East Hintz Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender entered the business, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money. The offender is described as a Hispanic male, 20-30 years old, 5'4" to 5'08", thin build, wearing a dark cloth over his face, a black jacket, a navy blue shirt, red pants, and sneakers with white sole bottoms.

Arlington Heights police did not release a description of the weapon used, and no direction of travel of the fleeing offender was indicated. Also, no vehicle description was indicated in this case.

The 7-ELEVEN business is located near the borders of Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove and Wheeling.

No ISPERN (Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network) radio message was broadcast for this incident.

The crime is reported to have occurred at 4:23 a.m.
