Retail Theft Suspect Attempt Fraudulent Return at Kohl's on Dundee Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 5:36 PM Saturday to a report of a retail theft suspect detained at Kohl's, 800 West Dundee Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an offender took items from the store, of unknown value, and initiated a fraudulent return at customer service.

Apparently the offender fled the scene. No video or still images have been released

The crime is reported to have occurred on Saturday, April 21, 2018 between 4:30 PM and 5:35 PM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 1:05 (hours: minutes).

Theft of US Flag at Gas Station on Northwest Highway Near Belmont Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 5:31 PM Friday of a theft at Grandt's Shell, 406 East Northwest Highway Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders removed an American flag, valued at $30, from outside the gas station business at Grandt's Shell.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 5:30 PM.

3 Hurt in Crash on Route 53 Just North of Lake Cook Rd, Long Grove

Long Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:00 PM Saturday to a report of a crash with injuries on northbound Route 53 just north of Lake Cook Road -- a 3 -ambulance response. , 42.153965, -88.017217 (Lake Cook Rd and Route 53 Long Grove, Il). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a crash with injuries on northbound Route 53 just north of Lake Cook Road.

First Long Grove crew on arrival reported the crash was located on the beginning of the westbound ramp from NB Route 53 to westbound Lake Cook Road.

A second ambulance was requested by 2:11 p.m. and Long Grove Ambulance 55R was assigned.

A third ambulance was requested by 2:13 p.m. Palatine was unavailable and Lake Zurich Ambulance 324 was assigned.

Lake Zurich Ambulance 324 entered the expressway from Lake Cook Road the wrong way on the westbound exit ramp from Route 53 at about 2:28 p.m. Ambulance 324 accessed the scene from the north.

The crash also reported on Waze.

Arlington Heights police received a report about 12:40 PM Wednesday of a theft at Mariano's, 802 East Northwest Highway Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders took three unattended bicycle LED lights. One red and two white.

Each light was valued at $50.

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:24 PM Friday to a medical call for a possible psychiatric evaluation at Methodist Park near Gibbons Avenue and Miner Street Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a man was running around in the park area with no clothes.

Police on scene reported a man "in the nude", and requested paramedics to respond and evaluate.

Two Package Thefts About 28 Days Apart on South Princeton Ave Near Grove St, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 8:46 AM Wednesday of a theft in the block of 400 South Princeton Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders removed packages from the victim's doorstep on two separate occasions.

The value of the contents of the first package taken are unknown. In the second incident, the contents of the second package were valued at $979.

Elderly Couple Die in House Fire on Kippling Ln Near Churchill Ln, Highland Park

Highland Park police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:16 AM Wednesday to a report of a house fire at 2088 Kippling Lane Highland Park, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a house fire that was initially reported on Ridge north of Park Ave.

The house fire, which was located on the northwest corner of Kippling Lane and Churchill was well-involved when firefighters arrived. Attempts of interior attack were stopped immediately and the fire went to defensive mode.

Battalion Chief 33 assigned Deerfield-Bannockburn Truck 20 to set up aerial operations from Half Day Road down Churchill by 1:30 a.m.

Battalion Chief 33 assigned Northfield Squad 29 as the RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) company by 1:32 a.m.

A deck gun and at least four handlines were in operation.

Bodies of an elderly couple were found in a bedroom. A tarp covered and area inside the house where the second floor collapsed into the first floor after the roof collapsed onto the second floor.

An early address was also given as 2180 Church Hill Lane Highland Park before the fire, visible from a distance, was confirmed to be on Kippling Lane. The neighborhood, located just northeast of Deerfield High School, has fire hydrants, but much of the destruction of the two-story home had already occurred when firefighters arrived. A large second floor driveway overhang was completely destroyed, along with a car parked on the driveway. The car was still smoldering after sunrise on Wednesday morning.

Two Hurt, Dog Killed on Meadow Drive Near Grouse Ln, Rolling Meadows

Rolling Meadows police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:44 AM Friday to a report of a house fire at 3711 Meadow Drive Rolling Meadows, Il. The first crew on arrival reported flames showing from the front of the house. Firefighters on interior attack reported a fire in the living room and updated the response to a working fire response by 4:51 a.m. The fire was immediately extinguished by firefighters.

Two victims were discovered injured -- a woman in her eighties, who suffered burn injuries; and her 45 year-old son.

The woman was immediately rushed to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

Two additional ambulances were requested by 5:03 a.m. -- Palatine Ambulance 84 and Arlington Heights Ambulance 3.

A Hoffman Estates ambulance was also dispatched to the scene.

Rolling Meadows police officers were also assisting firefighters at the scene.

Stranger Offers Child Student a Ride to School on Boxwood Dr East of Randhurst, Mount Prospect

Mount Prospect police responded about 9:10 AM Thursday to a report of attempted child luring in the block of 1100 Boxwood Drive Mount Prospect, IL. Police received a report that on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at approximately 9:10 AM an 11 year-old student was walking in the 1100 block of Boxwood Drive when a gray colored four-door sedan pulled alongside the juvenile. The driver of the sedan asked if the juvenile wanted to get into the car for a ride to school. The juvenile told the driver no and began running toward school.

The juvenile immediately notified a faculty member upon reaching school. The school called 9-1-1 and officers searched the area for the gray colored four-door sedan, but were unable to locate it. The driver of the vehicle is described as an Asian male with light colored skin, spiked hair who spoke with an Asian accent. The four-door sedan was last seen traveling northbound on Wheeling Road towards Euclid Avenue.

Mount Prospect police did not specify whether the child was male or female, and did not specify the student's school.

The Mount Prospect Police Department urges parents and children living in this area to be extra vigilant in the days ahead and to call 9-1-1 immediately should a subject and/or vehicle matching these descriptions be observed. The Mount Prospect Police Department announced they will have an increased presence in the area.

Additionally, the Mount Prospect Police Department urges parents to use this incident as an opportunity to review safety rules with their children and to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately by calling 9-1-1.

Two Vehicle Burglaries on Woods Drive Near Rand Rd and Wilke Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 12:01 PM Wednesday of a vehicle burglary in the block of 1400 Woods Drive Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders burglarized two vehicles on Woods Drive near the intersection of Rand Road and Wilke Road.

Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders entered the victim's unlocked 2006 silver Acura TL, and took a gift card and cash.

The crime is reported to have occurred between Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 6:00 PM and Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 9:00 AM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 15:00 (hours: minutes).

Police also received a report that an unknown offender or offenders entered another victim's unlocked 2017 blue Mazda CX-5 in the block of 1600 Woods Drive. Taken was a Canon scanner, valued at $200, and change.

The second crime is reported to have occurred between Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 6:45 PM and Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 12:00 PM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 17:15 (hours: minutes).
