Downed Power Line Burning And Arcing Causes Closure Of North Kennnicott Near Burning Tree Ln, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:30 AM Saturday a downed power line in the 2800 block of North Kennicott Avenue.  Firefighters reported arcing and burning grass and requested Com Ed respond to the scene. A downed power line occurred where power lines are placed between houses on the west side of Kennicott Avenue. The arcing was generated just a few feet from the front sidewalk. Kennicott Avenue was blocked until Com Ed repaired the line. Basement Fire With Rough Conditions Extinguished In About 20 Minutes On North Highland Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:19 PM Sunday to a house fire in the 700 block of North Highland Avenue. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a house was filling up with smoke, and all the power was out. Firefighters were on the scene in about three minutes and reported no smoke showing. Firefighters reported smoke in the house about 4:25 p.m. Engine 2 and Squad 2 crews were assigned to fire attack, and Tower 1 crew was assigned as the ventilation group. Engine 4 connected the hydrant, and Command wanted to know early whether Engine 2 observed smoke in the basement. Engine 2 reported smoke but no fire on the first and second floors, and asked for a second line at the rear entrance. Command called out a working basement fire at about 4:27 p.m. The basement fire served difficult conditions because of high entrances into the house and several turns for the hoses. Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:59 PM Saturday to a report that a female victim was found unresponsive and not breathing in a bath tub in the 0-99 block of East Lillian Avenue. An evidence technician responded to the scene for photos and other investigative work.
