Stolen Girl’s Blue Raleigh Bike Spotted at Arlington Heights Memorial Library, Offender Gets Away

Arlington Heights police responded about 6:20 p.m. Friday to a report that a blue Raleigh girl’s bike, stolen earlier in the day near St Viator, was spotted locked near the library. The bike was also described as having smiley face valve caps and a light on the front. Police received a report that the bike was discovered by the owners, and then two offenders unlocked the bike and sped off at high speed — one on the stolen bike and one on another bike — toward North School Park. One offender was described as a male/Hispanic, 14- or 15-years-old, 5’8″ 110 LBS, wearing a brown T-shirt and shorts. A second subject had a ‘similar description.’ Police searched the area, but no word on any contact with the offender.

Arlington Heights police received a report about 10:34 a.m. Thursday of a bike theft at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 434 West Park Street. Police received a report that the bike was stolen sometime yesterday.

Bike Thefts Reported at Apartment on East Fairview, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report of two bike thefts from an apartment complex common area in the 1200 block of East Fairview. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders removed two bicycles from a common apartment bike room which is left unsecured — a silver men’s 24 speed Quest mountain bicycle valued at $50, and a green men’s Schwinn Varsity 10-speed bicycle valued at $100. The crime is reported to have occurred between Friday, June 15, 2012 at 8:00am and Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 3:00pm.

Arlington Heights police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders removed an unsecured bicycle from a bike rack on the west side of an apartment building in the 300 block of West Miner Street. The stolen bike was described as a blue Schwinn Insight 1 Flat Bar road bike valued at $400. Arlington Heights police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders removed an unsecured hot pearl/pink, Dynacraft, Next, BMX, 20 inch, Child’s Bicycle with a sheep skin seat cover from the driveway in the 500 Block of East Grove Street. The bike was valued at $100.
