Work Van Fire On Wille St North Of Isabella St, Mount Prospect

Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:57 AM Monday to a vehicle fire on the street in the block of 300 North Wille Street Mount Prospect, IL. Police arrived first on the scene of a work van fire on Wille Street, just north of Isabella Street. The van was well-involved with fire when police arrived. Mount Prospect firefighters responded with an engine and a ladder truck and an ambulance. After arrival firefighters called for an extra engine.

Five blocks to the east on School Street someone reported the smell of smoke, but didn't know what was burning. A battalion checked the area to make sure there wasn't another fire in the area of school street, but confirmed it was smoke from the van fire. The wind at the time was from the west at about 15 mph.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but the van and contents were already destroyed. No injuries were reported.

The van was parked at the curb, southbound on Wille Street. It appeared that contractors were working on a house nearby.
