Car Hits Wheeling Fire Department Ambulance Transporting a Patient at Elmhurst Rd and Euclid Ave ,Mount Prospect

Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:44 AM Friday to a report of a crash with injuries at Elmhurst Road and Euclid Avenue Mount Prospect, IL. Firefighter/paramedics from Wheeling Ambulance 23 reported they were in a crash at Elmhurst Road and Euclid Avenue, and requested an ambulance to continue transportation of their patient to Northwest Community Hospital.

Mount Prospect firefighter/paramedics and Wheeling and Mount Prospect chiefs immediately responded to the scene.

Wheeling firefighter/paramedics were transporting a patient -- apparently southbound on Elmhurst Road to Northwest Community Hospital when they were hit at the left rear wheel. The car that disregarded the emergency vehicle was possibly westbound on Euclid Avenue. No confirmation from officials at this time.

The patient in the Wheeling ambulance was immediately transferred to a Mount Prospect ambulance and rushed to Northwest Community Hospital.

The car involved in the crash -- a small Mitsubishi station wagon -- had severe damage while the ambulance appeared to have very little damage.

The driver of the car was evaluated by paramedics, but it was not confirmed whether the patient was transported to a hospital.
