Crash Into Building at Northwest Highway and Pine Avenue Arlington Heights Causes Serious Damage

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:45 PM Friday to a crash into a building with structural damage at Northwest Highway and Pine Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and received a report that a car crashed into the Wayne Griffin Travel building at the Northwest Corner of Northwest Highway and Pine Avenue.

Upon arrival police discovered a driver totaled his car after it was crashed into an old bank drive-thru overhead support.

The driver was a young adult male. He was assessed by paramedics and was observed walking at the scene of the crash. His vehicle had severe front-end damage. It was not known if they transported him to the hospital at the time of this report.

The driver apparently drove through the parking lot and drive-thru of the Wayne Griffin Travel building at a high rate of speed and hit the drive-thru vertical support on the south side of the building. The vehicle was knocked 180 degrees after hitting the support.

The building department was called to the scene. The area was secured with barricades and the vertical support was shored up with a temporary 2x4 construction setup.

No word on charges for the driver.
