Gates Down at Northwest Highway and Euclid Avenue, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 8:02 AM Saturday to a report of gates stuck down at Euclid Avenue and Northwest Highway Arlington Heights, IL. Police reported the railroad gates were stuck down about a 20-minute duration before Union Pacific railroad workers responded to repair the gates.

The gates have been stuck in the down position several times recently. The problem has also plagued downtown Arlington Heights for years.

Thursday the railroad gates were down at all downtown railroad crossings. The usual alternate when this situation occurs is Northwest Highway and Walnut Avenue/Ridge Avenue, but the railroad crossing is undergoing grade crossing resurfacing and repair.
