Hit-and-Run, 5-Vehicle Crash by Possible DUI Driver on Dale Ave, Brandenberry Apartments, Arlington Heights
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:20 PM Tuesday to a hit-and-run crash with personal injures at 1215 North Waterman Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report of a car crash involving a possible intoxicated driver.
The actual address of the crash was on Dale Avenue just south of the intersection of Dale Avenue and Olive Street Arlington Heights, IL.
Witnesses on the scene reported they saw a Honda Civic with severe front-end damage driven through the apartment complex from east to west. Witnesses reported the driver appeared to be a 17-year old female that was described as intoxicated. One witness thought the driver appeared to be "high as a kite on drugs -- not intoxicated from alcohol." The witness said here eyes looked "drugged out." The female motorist attempted to start her car and drive away after her car stopped in the parking lot on the west side of Brandenberry Park Apartment/Condo Complex. Her Honda Civic left a trail of automotive fluids along her path from Dale Avenue to Camp McDonald Road on the east side of the apartment complex to a parking lot on the west side of the complex -- a distance of about 3,000 feet.
The female motorist was transported to Northwest Community Hospital by Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics.
Apparently the hit-and-run motorist hit four or five parked cars at the southbound curb of Dale Avenue and then rear-ended a Honda minivan. The crash with the minivan produced the severe damage to the front end of the offender's Honda Civic, but she was able to drive to the west side of the apartment complex. Witnesses reported she is a high school student and resident of the apartment complex.
A female passenger in the Honda minivan was also transported to Northwest Community Hospital from injuries suffered when the minivan was rear-ended.
Police were at work sorting out the details of the crash scene, which covered a large area. The parked vehicles that were hit were parked on the street because the apartment complex parking lots were undergoing seal coating work.
