Extra Alarm Fire at Buyer's Flea Market at Division St and Kolmar Ave, Chicago

Chicago police and firefighters responded about 9:30 AM Tuesday to an fire at Buyers Flea Market, 4545 West Division Street Chicago, IL. First firefighters on the scene reported heavy smoke conditions with the visibility of the building obscured by heavy smoke conditions.

The fire department response was elevated to a Still and Box at 9:36 a.m. and a 2-11 Alarm at 9:48 a.m.

The warehouse building was described as a 100x300 square foot building, but the building was at least 200x300. A building right next door to the fire was threatened by the large, hot fire.

A parking lot on the roof of the building was burned through, and some vehicles parked on the roof fell through.

There were initially a report of two women trapped in a bathroom in the northwest corner of the building. Those two women are believed to have been rescued.

The fire department response was elevated to a 3-11 Alarm fire at about 10:55 a.m. and a 4-11 Alarm fire at about 11:14 a.m.
