Car Rear-Ends Truck, Extrication Crash at Lake Cook Rd and Route 53 Long Grove

Long Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:29 AM Friday to a report of crash with injuries at Lake Cook Road and Route 53 Long Grove, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a vehicle lodged under a semi-trailer truck in a rear-end crash.

Lake County Sheriff deputies were first on the scene.

Long Grove Battalion Chief 55 on arrival reported one vehicle under a semi-trailer truck -- out investigating by 1:33 a.m.

Long Grove Battalion Chief 55 reported one patient confirmed trapped with an extended extrication expected -- calling for a firefighter callback.

Buffalo Grove Battalion Chief 4 assigned by 1:39 a.m.

Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Battalion Chief 51 assigned by 1:40 a.m.

Fire command reported firefighters were working with three extrication tools.

A tow truck was used to lift the semi-trailer enough to pull the vehicle away away from the trailer.

Countryside Engine 412's crew was assigned to a helicopter Landing Zone at Menard's parking lot.

Flight for Life not available; Lifestar responding.

Extrication was reported completed by 2:32 a.m. with the patient in Palatine A82.

Helicopter response canceled, and the patient was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital by Palatine A82's crew with two Palatine paramedics and three Long Grove paramedics on board.
