House Fire on Wilke Rd Just South of Euclid Ave, Arlington Heights: Attic Fire Quickly Extinguished

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:14 PM Sunday to a report of a house fire in the block of 500 North Wilke Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a chimney was on fire. Upon arrival of the first engine on the scene from Rolling Meadows, firefighters reported smoke showing from the chimney area. Firefighters then reported fire showing under the cap of the chimney. Fire also broke through the the front roof gable area. The fire was quickly knocked down by a firefighter with a hose line in the front yard.

The fire was upgraded to a Working Fire response (Code 4) when it was discovered there was fire in the attic.

The fire was extinguished before 6:51 p.m. Firefighters used salvage covers to protect the first floor while they checked for extension of fire in the attic and the ceiling of the first floor.

There were no people or pets injured in this fire.

Firefighters from Rolling Meadows and Palatine worked with Arlington Heights firefighters to extinguish the house fire, and Prospect Heights firefighters stood by at an Arlington Heights fire station.
