Serious Crash with Flight For Life Response Closes US 12 Just South of Case Rd, Wauconda

Wauconda police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:26 PM Friday to a report of a serious crash at 42.292399, -88.159536 (2100 North US 12 Road Wauconda, Il). Police and firefighter/paramedics discovered a crash in the northbound lanes of Route 12/59 just south of Case Road

One vehicle had front and rear damage. Initially is was unknonwn if the crash was a head-on crash, severe chain reaction type or an intersection crash on US12 and a private drive.

A Fox Lake engine was assigned to assist with extrication at 10:35 pm.

Later a McHenry engine was assigned to manage a helicopter landing zone on Route 12 and Case Road. A Flight for Life helicopter landed on US 12.

Possibly three patients were transported by ground ambulance and ultimately there was no transport by Flight for Life, which returned empty about 11:30 p.m.

Northbound US 12 was still blocked at Old Rand Road at 6:05 a.m. Saturday as an extended investigation was underway on US 12, but the northbound lanes of US 12 were open by 7:00 a.m.
