Trapped Driver Extricated, Says Initially He Was "Not Hurt" in Crash at a Arlington Heights Rd and Rand Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:08 PM Saturday to a report of a crash with entrapment at Arlington Heights Road and Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that at least one person was trapped in a vehicle involved in a crash.

The driver of a minivan was trapped in his vehicle, and firefighter/paramedics used cutter and spreader extrication tools "Jaws of Life" to free the man from his vehicle.

The man did not initially report any injuries, and was immediately able to work away from his vehicle after he was extricated. A female driver in a sedan involved in the crash also did not initially report any injuries. A third smaller sedan was also hit, and received very minor damage. Both of the other vehicles received received serious damage.

The third driver was waiting at a red light when the other two vehicles collided. The female driver of the third vehicle said the crash occurred so fast she didn't know which driver might have been at fault.

Arlington Heights Fire Department recently activated one of two customized rescue squads on Wednesday October 30, 2019. Today's crash involving entrapment of a driver was the first time this particular vehicle was used for an extrication rescue.
