9:12 PM Friday ENTER ADDRESS. COOK COUNTY, IL – Cook County Sheriff's Police are investigating a shooting which injured two men last night in unincorporated Mount Prospect, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.
Just before 9 p.m. on Thursday, Cook County Sheriff's Police received a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Dempster Street.
Officers located a 24-year-old man, with gunshot wounds, lying on the ground outside the front entrance of a condominium. A 22-year-old man, also suffering from gunshot wounds, was located inside the condominium.
Both men were taken to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
Officers and a bloodhound team searched the surrounding area, but were unable to locate the offenders.
Nearby suburban police departments also responded and assisted Sheriff's Police at the scene.
Based on the information gathered at the scene and from witnesses, investigators believe three to five unknown men were involved in the shooting, which appeared to be drug related.

Re/Max Suburban Brokers In Arlington Heights Plan June 8 Garage Sale To Benefit Lurie Children’s Hospital And Cmnh
The brokers at RE/MAX Suburban, 1808 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Ill., are planning a June 8 sidewalk garage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of their office, with all proceeds benefitting Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago and the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH).
"We hope many families in the area will turn out to do a little bargain shopping and help a great local institution," said Mary Zentz, the broker with RE/MAX Suburban who originated the garage sale idea.
"It occurred to me because I'm personally in the process of cleaning out two houses and consolidating them into a single residence. In talking with some of my office colleagues, we realized all of us had many salable items for which we'd like to find new homes, and a joint garage sale would be a good way to do it. Plus, we have been looking for ideas to continue our long-time support for Lurie Children's Hospital."
Anyone who has items they would like to contribute to the sale can find out more by contacting Zentz directly at the RE/MAX Suburban office in Arlington Heights, which is at the intersection of Arlington Heights and Palatine roads. She can be reached at 847-707-9507.
"We're looking for items that would sell for at least $5 each, and would be happy to accept donations meeting that criterion. Anything that isn't sold on June 8 will be donated to another local charity," she said.
RE/MAX is the exclusive real estate sponsor of CMNH, an organization that provides funds to more than 170 children's hospitals in the United States and Canada. Nearly all funds raised by RE/MAX in the Chicago area benefit Lurie Children's Hospital. RE/MAX associates contributed $129,000 to the hospital last year.
RE/MAX has been the leader in the northern Illinois real estate market since 1989. The RE/MAX Northern Illinois network, with headquarters in Elgin, Ill., consists of 2,000 sales associates and 100 individually owned and operated RE/MAX offices that provide a full range of residential and commercial brokerage services. Its www.illinoisproperty.com and www.remax.com websites are leaders in consumer visits among real estate franchise brands. The www.global.remax.com website allows consumers to search properties across the globe and www.theremaxcollection.com is a specialized portal of luxury properties across the U.S. The northern Illinois network is part of RE/MAX LLC, a global real estate organization with 91,000 sales associates in 90+ nations. The RE/MAX organization has been recognized for numerous industry honors for excellence, and its Associates continue to lead the industry in professional designations, experience and production. Nobody in the world sells more real estate than RE/MAX. Along with its support for CMNH, RE/MAX is the national sponsor of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

Flash Flood Watch For Tuesday Night Through Wednesday Morning
Flash Flood Warning already exists for areas near Peoria and Pontiac. Most of Northern Illinois except for northern tier counties (Lake, McHenry, etc) are under a Flash Flood Watch.
At about 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, heavy thunderstorms are on the move east-northeast at about Interstate 80 -- covering the western half of Illinois from Starved Rock to the Mississippi River.
Another area of more severe storms are on the move in Iowa, and seem to be training in Iowa.
The most severe weather in Chicagoland could be along a path including Naperville, Wheaton, Schaumburg, Elmhurst, and Oak Lawn; but it is too early to tell, and the system could move north as a warm front moves north.
The air is very humid with dew point readings in the upper 60s and some 70s. Thunderstorm cells are expected to develop overnight and may involve heavy rain up to 2 inches per hour, and if training occur some areas may get 5 inches of rain.

Fraudulent Savings And Checking Accounts Set Up By Arlington Heights Tcf Bank Supervisor; Two Men Make Unlawful Withdrawals
Jovanny D. Sosa, 21, of Hanover Park has been charged with misappropriating property from a TCF Bank in Arlington Heights where he was employed.
Cook County prosecutors say Jovanny Sosa set up four fraudulent savings and checking accounts at a Wood Dale TCF branch.
Sosa then accessed the accounts from the Arlington Heights branch where he worked as a supervisor. Allegedly, Sosa electronically deposited $2,000 into each account.
According to prosecutors, Benjamin Andrade, 20, and Antonio Rodriguez, 21, both of Hanover Park, then went to ATMs and withdrew $500 from each account, resulting in fraudulent loss of funds from TCF totaling $2,000.
A Cook County judge set bail at $10,000 Monday for Jovanny D. Sosa, of the 5700 block of Ring Court in Hanover Park.
If convicted of the class 3 felony, Jovanny Sosa faces two to five years in prison with probation available.
Andrade and Rodriguez appeared in Rolling Meadows bond court on Tuesday afternoon charged with misappropriating property from a financial institution, unlawful use of a credit or debit card and theft.
Bail was set at $10,000 each for Andrade and Rodriguez. The defendants could face up to five years in prison if convicted of the most serious charges with probation available.
The defendants do not have any criminal history. All are schedule for their next court appearance on June 6, 2013.

Local Taxpayers Asked To Say No To State's Interest In Diverting Local Revenues
Arlington Heights, along with other municipalities in the Northwest Municipal Conference, are asking residents to join our voices in contacting their State Representatives and Senators to tell them to VOTE NO on ANY diversion of local government revenues.
The Governor and the General Assembly are planning to divert revenues due to local governments in order to backfill the massive deficit in the state's budget. A vote on these diversions is expected prior to the General Assembly's scheduled adjournment on May 31.
Diverting these revenues from local governments, many of which have already made the hard decisions necessary to balance their budgets, could result in a tax increase upon taxpayers and/or further reductions in vital public services. List of Local Legislators
What local government revenues are at stake in 2013?
Local Government Distributive Fund (LGDF)
Instituted in 1969, the LDGF provides local governments with a 6% share of the state income tax in exchange for local governments not collecting a local income tax. LGDF is distributed on a per capita basis and rises and falls with state income tax collections.
Corporate Personal Property Replacement Tax (CPPRT)
CPPRT was instituted in 1979 to replace a previous business tax. In 2011 and 2012, the State began "temporarily" diverting a portion of the CPPRT to pay for state obligations.Senate Bill 492 – House Amendment 2 would expand this diversion and make it permanent.
Local Government Tax Fund (sales tax)
The state collects and holds for disbursement local government sales tax revenues. Senate Bill 622 (which the Governor signed on March 8, 2013) "borrows" $6.6 million to fund the Illinois State Medical Disciplinary Fund.
State History of Using Local Government Revenues
In 2002, the state took the local share of the photo-processing tax costing municipalities several million dollars per year.
In 2011, when the state income tax was increased by 67%, the distribution formula for the LGDF was altered to prevent local governments from receiving a share of the increased revenues.
In 2011 & 2012, the CPPRT was "temporarily" diverted (see above).
The General Assembly is working to place additional burdens on local taxpayers
By increasing the cost of local government public works projects (House Bill 924).
By restricting municipalities from closing unneeded or outdated fire facilities (Senate Bill 1456 – House Amendment 2).
By increasing the cost of Workers' Compensation coverage, which will hasten the exodus of businesses from Illinois (House Bill 3390 – Senate Amendment 1).
By shifting the cost of educator pensions onto local tax bills (no bill # currently assigned).
By planning nearly $1 billion in cuts to social services. Many of those affected by these cuts will turn to local governments for assistance, a demand that local governments do not have the resources to meet.
