Extra-Alarm Fire For Two Barn Fires, Horse Rescues On Ridge Rd, Barrington Hills
Barrington Hills police and Barrington Countryside FPD responded about 8:18 a.m. 12:50 PM Wednesday to a barn fire in the 21000 block of Ridge Road. Firefighter/paramedics arrived to find two wood-frame barns on fire and the homeowners rescuing several horses. Firefighters immediately called for a MABAS box alarm and then a 2nd alarm. The response was eventually elevated to a fourth alarm for tender or tanker trucks. The fire was reported extinguished about 10:30 a.m. Mutual aid fire departments were still returning as late as 12:45 p.m.
Firefighters from Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Carpentersville, Cary, Countryside, Crystal Lake, Hampshire, Lake Zurich, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Long Grove, Palatine, Palatine Rural, Prospect Heights, Wheeling and others responded to assist Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District firefighters.
One Barrington firefighter suffered an ankle injury and was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital a short distance away.
Ridge Road was closed between Spring Creek Road and Merri Oaks Road during firefighting operations.
