Life-Threatening Injuries For Man Apparently Hit By Vehicle On Schaumburg Road Near Friendship Village

UPDATE: Victim identified as Schaumburg High School senior Mikias Tibebu, 18.

Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:40 AM Saturday to a report of a man hit by a vehicle near Friendship Village at Schaumburg Road and Branchwood Drive. Police shut down Schaumburg Road in both directions after finding a victim on the south side of Schaumburg Road near the entrance to Friendship Village. Police started CPR just before firefighter/paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to Alexian Brothers Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The accident investigation unit was called out about 12:50 a.m. Schaumburg Road was re-opened at about 5:45 a.m.

No word on any arrests or charges. Several motorists stopped to help the victim.
