Circa 57 Opening This Summer In Former Grand Station And People's Bank Location At Vail Ave And Campbell St

Coming soon is a 1950's-themed restaurant expected to be opened this summer with 10.000 square feet at the corner of Campbell Street and Vail Avenue.

The existing bar area from the former Grand Station restaurant will be transformed into an old-fashioned soda fountain, according to owners Anthony Priola and Kimberly Priola. The bar area will be modeled after an old Texaco gas station from 1957, and will include a gift shop with memorabilia inside a mock-up of a 1950-style department store.

The restaurant owners are hoping to open three feature sections that will open in two phases -- two sections are targeted to open in the former Grand Station space in May, and the third section in the former People's Bank section later in the summer.

The first section of the restaurant will be designed after dad's backyard barbecue, including burgers, barbecued ribs and seafood.

The second section will be all about the Blue Plate Specials -- with diner comfort foods like fried chicken, biscuits and meatloaf.

"Blue-plate special" is a dining phrase from the 1920s through the 1950s used by restaurants, especially diners and cafes. Blue-plate specials refer to a special low-priced meal, usually changing daily, and usually consisting of a "meat and three" (three vegetables).

The third section at Circa 57 will feature an automotive/drive-in scene with a 1957 Chevy and other 1950s cars. Old movies will play like at a drive-in while customer order and eat in the cars from a selection of burgers, fries, milkshakes or pizza.

Circa 57 will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a late night menu. Circa 57 will also host some live entertainment, private parties and maybe an occasional sockhop.
