Memorial Day Traffic Enforcements "Click It Or Ticket" And "Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over Start Today

The Arlington Heights Police Department will commence specialized traffic enforcement activities relating to the Memorial Day "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" holiday enforcement campaigns from May 11th through Memorial Day. Enforcement activities will include numerous seatbelt enforcement zones, impaired driving saturation patrols, and a Roadside Safety Checkpoint. The checkpoint will take place on May 17, 2013 on Arlington Heights Road south of Algonquin Road.

Officers working the campaigns will be attempting to identify and cite motorists who choose to drive without using their safety belts, are driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or are committing other traffic-related offenses.

Over 500 local law enforcement agencies across the state will be participating, along with the Illinois State Police and the Illinois Department of Transportation. The campaigns are funded with federal traffic safety funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which are administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation – Division of Traffic Safety.
