Forecast Change: More Showers, Heavier Precipitation Than Initially Expected Today

Weather radar showers an area of showers and thunderstorms developing near O'Hare International Airport and Chicago's West Side, and moving north. Radar was all clear for northeast Illinois at 10:40 AM, but by 11:40 a.m. multiple thundershower cells were developing and moving north.

Unstable air with convection is moving north in to northeast Illinois and it appears that a convergence line clashing with the lake breeze area of Lake Michigan may cause showers and thunderstorms to continue to develop today.

Morning clouds showed a lot of cumulus development with convection in the area.

The highest temperatures today are expected between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. but with added rain we may stay in the low 90s or upper 80s.

TODAY

Tuesday
