High-Rise Fire With Rescues At Triumvera Dr, In Glenview
Glenview firefighter/paramedics and Cook County Sheriff's police deputies responded about 12:30 AM Wednesday to a fire in a ninth floor condo/apartment at 3925 Triumvera Drive Glenview, IL. Firefighters arrived on the scene and reported heavy fire coming out of a balcony on the north side of the building on the ninth floor.
About ten Cook County Sheriff's police deputies rushed to upper floors to help evacuate several people.
A MABAS Box Alarm was requested at about 12:43 a.m.
Fire was still visible until just before 12:50 a.m. and was extinguished at about 1:00 a.m.
Glenview's aerial ladder truck was raised to the balcony, and at least two residents were transferred to the aerial ladder and helped by firefighters down to ground level. Rescue operations were underway while other crews worked to extinguish the fire, and then ventilate smoke out of the building.
Most of the evacuated residents sat or stood and watched from lawns across from the high-rise building.
Glenview police were also on the scene to assist with traffic control. The condo building is located in unincorporated Glenview, just south of ABT Electronics between Central Road and Lake Avenue. The building is in the police jurisdiction of the Cook County Sheriff's office.
Firefighters from Arlington Heights, Morton Grove, Mount Prospect, Niles, Northbrook, North Maine, Prospect Heights, Wilmette, and others assisted Glenview firefighters.
