Schaumburg Police Citizen Police Academy Applications -- Academy Starts October 2, 2013

The Schaumburg Police Department is currently accepting applications for the 34th session of the Citizen Police Academy (CPA). Anybody 18 years of age and older who resides or works in Schaumburg are eligible to apply. The CPA is held at the police station on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm until 9:00pm. The upcoming session starts October 2nd and runs for 10-weeks ending on December 11.

The Citizens' Police Academy has proven to be a very popular program within our Community Policing efforts. Class members will meet and interact with many members of the police department and will be exposed to many facets of law enforcement. Each week different topics are presented covering patrol operations, investigations, traffic enforcement, support services, and training. The experience is not limited to classroom lectures alone. Class members will be given the opportunity to participate in a patrol ride-along, participate in firearms training on the range, practice mock traffic stops, and visit the 9-1-1 central dispatch center. People who attend 70% of the sessions are eligible to graduate and then join the Schaumburg Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (www.cpaaas.org).

Through the Citizens Police Academy, we hope to provide an environment that will help foster relationships between the police and community. It is our desire that the graduates will become partners with us in identifying problems and solutions to quality of life issues that face our community.

Applications can be obtained on the Village of Schaumburg website at www.villageofschaumburg.com. For additional information contact Sgt. Nebl at 847-348-7276 or jnebl@ci.schaumburg.il.us
