Second Rollover Crash At Route 53 Spur And Lake Cook Rd Is Second In Three Weeks, Near Long Grove

Illinois State police and Long Grove, Palatine and Buffalo Grove firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:46 PM Monday to Long Grove, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics first on the scene reported a semi-trailer truck on its side with the driver still inside the vehicle.

Firefighter/paramedics setup up operations and mutual aid requests for a light extrication operation.

A Palatine ambulance moved from the scene to Long Grove's fire station for coverage for Long Grove. Long Grove's ambulance waited at the scene for extrication of the victim. The victim was extricated by about 1:10 p.m., and transported to Northwest Community Hospital.

Lincolnshire-Riverwoods also stood by at Long Grove's fire station for a short time.

A-Express Towing worked the recovery of the truck. The truck was loaded with machine parts and no hazardous material operations was involved.

A semi-trailer truck also rolled over as recently as Monday August 19, 2013 at almost the exact location on the westbound ramp. The truck rolled completely upside-down, but the driver was able to get out of the vehicle on his own. That driver was also injured and transported to Northwest Community Hospital after the crash that occurred three weeks prior.
